Interesting aside here... This article states that Kent State is paying Ford a base salary of $300k/year. If that is the case, then what in the world would we be paying him?

    Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Probably more than that, but I'm sure it would be of the $700k/year range, as some rumors have stated.

Well, better to scramble to find this guy than someone who has not been proven yet.

I see nothing wrong with this hire and will be 100 percent behind him. He has won the conference two years in a row so he can coach. Get him on campus and let him talk to Remy asap. Its all good folks, get behind him!!!!!!

A "top tier" coach is not coming to BU no matter which way you look at it PERIOD. I love BU basketball but you have to realize where you stand in the NCAA basketball food chain and Bradley is no where near top tier right now. And if you think other wise, well.....

                  Welcome to BU coach Ford!

Maybe somebody knows more about this than I do, but if $700k is the salary, isn't this salary toward the upper end of MVC coaches? This article has Lowery at $750k/year.
It just seems odd that we would pay $750k for an unproven coach at the MVC level?

My bad! I meant to say that it probably wouldn't be in that $700k range. But I would think it would be more than the $300k he earned at Kent St.

oh no...I didn't mean it that way! I agree that he is making more... To leave his previous job, I would think that he is at least making $500k here plus incentives. What I meant to say is that the $700k salary was thrown out there early on with a couple of candidates and I thought that was on the high side. Now, I wonder what the salary is and I wouldn't rule out a salary approaching the $700k level. just not certain???

No one was more torn up about JL's firing than I was, but seems like we have a nice coach in place to replace him! Welcome to Bradley Geno!

Any chance he can get Sammy to stay since he only verbally committed to Illinois?? Those two recruits would not be bad if they followed him here either, 3-star 89 rated recruit (even though ESPN ratings are not always accurate) looks pretty good. Looks like he could bring a sorely needed 3 point shooter as well. Hopefully DSE, RA, and SH like our new guy!

I knew there would come a day when I totally supported T!
                            This is it.

Good pick up by BU! Happy to stand in the line behind T to welcome the new BU coach and wish him much success.

Let the recruiting, and wooing current BU players/2011 recruits, begin!
New coaches typically bring some of their future recruits with them offsetting players/recruits leaving after coaching changes!

Let's make sure to give him the same grace period many other MVC coaches have received - 3-4 years to get the program up and running to a point where we have bragging rights over ISU-R fans!

                            PS
Wonder if BU could give Geno an honorary degree to make him a BU alum, as a way to build loyalty to stay after he has been successful at BU?
