Well I agree with KW that it's good to be patient here, and there are still some viable candidates out there as well. I just hope we don't get too patient.

I think this is exactly why NIU was extremely smart with their hire of Montgomery. They quickly identified what they wanted in a coach, initiated the process in an efficient manner, and hired a Big 10 assistant from a proven coaching tree. NIU can sit back and organize matters with their new coach, while we are stuck in the middle.
      Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Cross has said many times he is going to hire a great coach. So what KW wrote today can not be true because there is not a great coach on that list.

there are still really good candidates available, and I hope we get one...
but if something is causing good candidates to choose NIU or being an assistant over being HC at BU we need to correct it ASAP

Couldn't agree more Ben. I'm more and more convinced that NIU has a better coach than we will end up with.

Have mvc schools hired what our posters consider top head coaching prospects?

Wonder if the shrinking national footprint of the MVC is hurting BU's chances at getting a top coaching prospect we all think is needed. Other mid majors have leapt by MVC with multiple NCAA tourney bids lately.

In posters opinions, how many other MVC schools have landed "top head coaching prospects" when their head coaching jobs have opened up?

How would BU fans have felt if BU had hired WSU's Marshall who had spent 9 years at Winthrop before being hired at WSU? Did anyone jump up and down and wring their hands with Marshall's hiring at WSU - that they had pulled off a coup vs other MVC schools with his hiring?

UNI Jacobson from North Dakota State and never a head coach pre UNI? Would BU fans have considered him a top head coaching prospect as a UNI assistant out of NDS?

Drake - Mark Phelps? Considered a top head coaching prospect when hired by DU?

ISU R - Jank considered a top head coach prospect when hired by ISU-R?

Evansville - Simmons from SIU-E considered a top head coach prospect when hired by EU?

ISU B - Lansing considered a top head coaching prospect when ISU-B promoted him to head coach?

MSU - Martin considerd a top head coaching prospect when MSU hired him as head coach?
