Haha, you might not realize that you're sarcastic post is probably correct, JL brought funds into this university like no one before him, and likely not anyone after him. Very few coaches are as connected as JL and will be able to deliver NBA execs to donate large sums of money. I've said many times I don't mind that JL was fired, but what he brought in terms of fundraising is pretty much unparalleled for a university such as ours.

Guess JG could have retained JL as one of the primary paid fundraisers for the BU Athletic Dept., or, BU's General Fund....

Would free up more time for the new Coach to recruit and develop his team.

While I don't think he was the best coach for the job, he was in fact an amazing ambassador for the program as a whole and an outstanding fundraiser!

I don't think him being connected necessarily got recruits, but he was personable to the point where you felt like you should dig into your pockets for him....all the time, every time....


Thats not discounting what the next coach may do, but JL showed that his main passion was Bradley University....


And guess what, for all of those that want to talk one way or the other, THAT is his legacy, and will be lasting, coaching record aside.

Let's not forget the Markin Center was built largely on the donation of $8 million by David Markin. Did JL raise that money?

well...since the planning and construction on the Markin Center was begun well before the summer of 2007

...and Dr. Glasser was hired in fall of 2007...I'd say JL had perhaps a bit more to do with it than Dr. Glasser.

I think we agree pretty much to a T on JL (despite the fact I thought he should have been given another year). This is why I am so upset at the way he was let go, to lose a person who was a great alum, who was truly passionate about the university, and bent over backwards to help BU progress was not even close to necessary. There were a number of ways the separation could have been handled better that could have kept JL close to the university.

This is Bradley and we are talking about one of the most popular and influential figures of the past 30 years. She had an obligation to handle this with an abundance of consideration and respect. As President of Bradley, JG owed that to JL but more importantly she owed that to everyone who has a connection with and cares about Bradley.

JL raised far more for those facilities than president glasser.

Athletics is only a fraction of the "Bradley Renaissance" vision. I doubt JL had much impact on donations for a new theatre, the combined Engineering/Business college, etc.

Anyway, I wasn't making a point about JL. The President was hired primarily because the board thought that she would be an excellent fundraiser and move Bradley in the direction that they desired (i.e.-the 21st century).

I agree, but I think you need to take it a step further. The admin should also owe that same sort of consideration and respect to other loyal employees that are not in high profile positions.

I think most people agree with the admin's vision. However, of those that are close to the situation, not all are sure that the end will justify the means. Do you have any incite to offer that would persuade those people?

I have asked this question of multiple people who blindly support the admin, yet all I get is (crickets).
