???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
you can question anyone's reliability....in fact I do it all the time...and get ripped like heck when I question even stuff that gets reported by then later retracted by our local media!!!
...but the guy is "a 16 year veteran Los Angeles sports reporter and broadcaster"
he is cited as reference by Foxsports, CNN, and NBC news, CBS Sports, Time, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, ESPN, Jim Rome, and many other sites....
I should clarify that I don't think this reporter is fabricating this story nor question his qualifications, but I tend to not believe a story when it comes from only one source. He obviously believes his source enough to report this information, but other outlets either do not find the information reliable or do not have access to it.
I can do all things through pasta, which strengthens me.
It must be nice to be able to pick and choose what reports and or rumors we believe.
This report fits with other local reports I have heard. It is definitely true.
Sutton is one of many that have turned Bradley down, despite huge increases in salary.
Very true, although in this case I am willing to bet that Sutton was looking for a BCS job for awhile anyway. I'm guessing this had less to do with being a bad fit with the Bradley administration than the with the other coaches who have turned down Bradley.
Hmmm. So Sutton still might be a candidate if Missouri turned him down. And even Giacoletti might not be out of the picture as he has not been contacted yet. Although Sutton would be more desirable, maybe Giacoletti could be available as a backup.
Interesting note about ray too. Although Sutton may not have been my first choice, he is appealing. I would not be disappointed if he was our next coach. Jmo.

It's hard not to question all these reports, especially when Ray Giacolleti has now come out and said he has not had a single conversation with anyone at Bradley, let alone interviewed for the job.
It just goes to show that these reports on offers and interviews are questionable at best, unless there is a direct quote from the coach confirming that he has interviewed.

Again, realize that this may be factually true, yet it doesn't mean a candidate wasn't approached about the Bradley job or even turned it down-
Because Bradley has employed a search firm, it's possible that they have contacted some candidates on behalf of Bradley and gauged their interest. A candidate might have decined interest without ever having "a single conversation with anyone at Bradley, let alone interviewed for the job."
In fact, it is almost a certainty that this has happened with some candidates, possibly Giacoletti, as it is what the search firms do with the money they charge.

His success at ORU can't be overlooked, but the Summit League is not the MVC (the Summit had a conference ranking of 21 last season) - IMO, that's why he's not a serious candidate at Mizzu. I think he's a stretch at the MVC level, let alone the Big 12. Again, I applaud his accomplishments - he appears to be a good coach in a mediocre league. If that spells MVC championships for BU, I'm all for it.
