    Capel

Yes, I thought about him a couple times. That would be the absolute top of my list. So much top that I don't think there would ever be a chance. I feel the same way about Hewitt(GT) although I see most people disagree with me on that.

Doesn't anyone else think that JL taking a scorched earth approach to his departure from the university he loves seems extremely beneath him? Nobody could ever question JL's class and character, he was top notch on those fronts. So why would he try to hurt the kids he was parted from by steering candidates away? Don't you think he's aware of the kind of stress these kids are under waiting for this decision? My final thought is that there is probably a clause or two or three in a contract as lucrative as JL had with BU that his buyout is contingent on his post firing silence. In other words a "gag" order. Just my 2 cents - I'm certain some will disagree.

I agree with you. It wouldn't make sense for JL. I'm not sure there is a problem yet.

I would think it is beneath him if he is doing it. I am not sure that has been proved. I don't count honestly answering questions about his work environment. I don't expect him to lie. I think there could be a middle ground. The school, facilities, program good. Other things I didn't think were helpful.

I agree. I think he is allowed to be honest. If he is trying to napalm the thing, i would be extremely disappointed. I doubt that is the case.

Why Jeter didn't accept is pure speculation, but one things for sure..... Looking at his track record, Jeter probably wouldn't have been that great and wasn't really anyones first choice (on this board anyways), but it was the admins. Now that they have defined the ideal candidate that they were looking for and were unable to get him, does that now mean that they have to lower their expectations for the open position? Do other good candidates question coming to BU as well when they look in as outsiders at Jeter's current position, what was allegedly offered and then turned down.

In other words, many of you wouldn't have been happy with Jeter and now that they can't even get him, you have to have some legitimate concerns at (a) the admins ability at qualifying/judging a great candidate and then in turn (b) who the next "best" choice in their mind may be.

I would be a little worried.

Well maybe, but there are so many acceptable candidates I would be happy with I think I will be OK with it. I liked Jeter, I also wouldn't mind going young (assistants from good schools). There are a lot of options still.

Jim's legacy will show he left this job in a whale of a lot better state than it will be for years to come.

But Jim Les does have some valuable experience in another area, as does Travis Ford. I assure you both have gotten calls lately.

As I have said before, when candidates turn you down even when you are offering way more money than they should be getting offered, it doesn't take a genius to figure out why.

We still have a chance to get this right, but....
His legacy of under .500 play in valley will not be missed...sorry

Dr. Cross has informed me that you need a college degree to apply.....

So if I went to play college ball, left early to the nba, and wanted to apply for the coaching position.....would I not be allowed since I do not have a college degree?

I feel like he didn't take my request seriously.

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
