Same here but that was a number tossed around earlier.
    Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

If we are really offering 700K, this should be done real soon with a quality candidate. I'm not convinced we're offering that much.

Good point BB. It surprises me, but then again doesn't surprise me... that we are offering 700K... sounds like a lot, but sounds like something JG would be (encouraging Bradley to be) willing to throw at spring-boarding her career. And so if true - 700K should be enough to lure a quality candidate very soon.

If we pay our head basketball coach 700K, doesn't JG get a hefty raise as well?

She will when this hire lands her a gig at a BCS-school in the future.

Isn't that some sort of conflict of interest?

Hopefully part of her getting that BCS gig entails us winning big.

That's a big 'hopefully' on my part of course.

No, I was told this is apparently in the school code...

Or at least that's what some said a couple weeks ago

You are all making me laugh. She is not the AD so the basketball record is not what will enthrall her with any openings for a President at a BCS school. The biggest factor will be THE ENDOWMENT! The basketball program is just an investment that could take our overall endowment to greater heights. There are other factors such as quality and awards of the faculty, expanding facility and enrollement etc....

Thank You! I've been confused why everyone keeps saying if she gets a big hire she can move up to the big time. I was starting to think I had her job mixed up.

Well, if you can raise your own salary by firing someone, I'd call that a conflict of interest.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report says Jeter met in Chicago with BU last Friday...then was put on hold...
he was apparently called and met again with "Bradley officials Tuesday in Chicago in what was a follow-up to a meeting they'd had Friday."

He goes into pretty significant detail as to what he used and how he made his decision-- and doesn't mention the money..

"I had a few conversations with the folks at Bradley and I decided that Milwaukee is a better place for me to be right now"

as for why Paul Lusk pulled out of the NIU job...the sports editor of the Ft. Wayne News-Sentinel says this...

Mizzou's Mike Anderson about to bolt to Arkansas

and rumor that Tennessee going to hire new guy fast - ex- NBA coach...hmmm...
