Well that takes one guy away. Cooley was another. Sounds like Gioceletti to NIU. Things are moving forward in the business.

      Very interesting....
      Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Great !!! I hope this not a bad sign... Maybe we still have a shot at Gacoletti or Lusk..The powers that be at BU better get going before all the good candidates are gone!!

another link stating the same but one interesting note...

Jeter was close to taking it, but he wavered and decided to stay with the Panthers, who should be good again next year. Bradley would have paid more money, and as of right now Jeter will stay with no extra pay and the 5 years left on his contract extension.

then dontcha think it would have some importance to find out why top candidates withdraw and don't want to work at BU?
I think that's a monumental issue that some are totally blind to or strangely tolerant of......but whatever the reason it has to go.....

I said this in another thread, but don't expect any successful coach in a similar league to make a move to BU.

They don't need to do it for their career and BU won't pay them that much more than they already make.

I'm still prepared to be underwhelmed by the hire and expect it to be from a low-major or an assistant from somewhere.

I find some incredibly intriguing comments by UW-M fans...
first that some are not so sure they're happy -- as if they really weren't all that convinced Rob Jeter was the guy they want..

"I think this is good news that Jeter is staying at UWM. I hope many feel the same because there is many that wanted him gone."

                    then this comment...
"Reportedly, Rob turned down $700,000 a year and a "significant" pay raise for his coaches."

If true -- then it speaks volumes that Bradley is offering almost twice what Jeter's reportedly making at UWM and also willing to throw more $$ at his assistants and yet he still declines!!!

BTW -- Rob Jeter's record over the PAST FIVE SEASONS....79-80....as I said elsewhere, I have yet to be convinced he is the best candidate out there and his own fans are expressing that they are happy to see him going elsewhere...

We don't agree about several things.

                      This, however, we agree on.

It didn't even take long for it to make the blogs, which should tell people something that many have known for a while.

First off 79-80 was a misprint and 2nd, you know, the guy could be staying because of family...there are other things than basketball...

From a source I know it has nothing to do with pay, facilities, players, or management!

So take that for what it's worth, that said what's the list down to now?

                        Fife
                        Lusk
                        Gard
                        Montgomery
                        Muller
                        Johnson

                        Who else?

There are still names out there BUT we need to nail someone down soon as everyone seems to be finishing up matters this week

Time will tell whether Jeter was the best candidate out there, but I think that he was a very good one.
btw Jeter's record is 101-89 according to this site. I like to look at complete records. But then again, we won't be hiring a John Wooden either.

Maybe he's waiting to see if Marquette opens up.

Or maybe the sky is falling in Peoria.

                              Bingo.

And that's the type of consideration for a coach in a similar league. They don't need the BU job to land Marquette.

It's a risk to uproot when you have things rolling.
