[QUOTE=amckillip;223686]Are you listening at all? I am simply saying the I do not believe Jeter is a step up from JL, there's quite a lot to back that up.
Where is that proof? After 6 years- Jeter was 101-89. JL 105-80, but Jeter was much better in his conference and in average finish....

We lost our best player (maybe more) conjecture,
Our best recruit(maybe more)- hasn't left yet-

And the support of a lot of alums - again- where is the proof?

I see this as an agree to disagree is all... one guys liked what we had, the other says Jeter is better... no need to keep arguing... There can be numbers to back both sides....
???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???

Just skimmed it, but excellent article! Great to see the faith at least one guy has in Jeter.

I think with Jeter, the floor of the program will be very much like the floor Les had for the program. I don't see us ever dipping to Thursday night with Jeter around.

The only question is if he can consistently contend for titles, and consistently go deep in the MVCT and win postseason games.

Very nice article, Jimmy. I had a great time up there a couple of years ago, and no matter how things turn out I'll be rooting for UWM going forward.

Almost all his current players are fairly obscure Wisconsin kids...not saying they are bad players, just that they are fairly obscure --
he also has two transfers from Evansville, James Haarsma & Kaylon Wiliams...those were kids who didn't exactly tear the Valley up but were decent mid-major players...
Hi current best three players, and only double digit scorers, Hill, Boyle, Meier...were all 2-Star or completely UNRATED (zero stars) and in his FIVE years at UW-M he has never landed a single recruit that was rated above 2-Star by scout.com
To me it doesn't matter how someone was "rated' coming out of high school, how many stars they have, etc. All of that is so non-scientific and a shot in the dark I personally never look at that stuff too much.

I guess the question is how do the players play at the college level. UWM had a first-team All-League player this year. UWM won the Horizon League, beat Butler twice and Jeter was named Coach of the Year. He won the League in a year in which it was as good as the MVC.

I don't care how many "stars" his recruits were, I care how good they turned out to be as college players. UWM's two recruits for next year are both pretty highly regarded if you buy into that kind of stuff.

Jeter is from Chicago and played basketball there. I'm sure he knows his way around well enough.

Mr. Fife - it sound like you are not putting a good case for yourself as a strong candidate for the position. I guess you aren't all that interested after all...or maybe you have good ties with Jeter that he can give you the main ass't coaching position at BU next season???

Still just don't see the evidence......he played basketball in high school from 1987-1991 and by everything I have read -- really has not lived there since...and as noted earlier, has landed exceedingly few players from that area.
I also went to high school and played sports in the Chicago area, but nearly 25 years away would make all your "ways" and "connections" dry up...

All I have asked is that in the face of reports that he's a super-recruiter, and that he's Bo Ryan's top recruiter....then who has he landed...?
His record is NOT much better than what JL had an he has virtually no post-season success at all.

Jeter must have done something right on the recruiting front as lead recruiter for Bo Ryan?

"In four seasons at Wisconsin, Jeter helped the Badgers to remarkable success. They won two regular season Big Ten championships and a Big Ten Tournament title. Wisconsin also made four-straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including berths in the Sweet 16 in 2003 and the Elite Eight in 2005. Plus, Wisconsin averaged nearly 23 wins per season under Ryan and Jeter and posted a school-record 38-game homecourt winning streak."

Good post. Rob Jeter was Bo Ryan's right hand man and lead recruiter when he was with him at Wisconsin. Now, he was an assistant not the head coach. Obviously.

His six year record is not overly outstanding or eye popping. However, he is 61-43 in the Horizon League and won a league championship and won a Coach of the Year award this past year and two league titles in six years. The league title and COY awards are things that haven't happened at Bradley since 1995-96. That's a long time ago.

If we are playing the "why did we fire Coach X to hire Coach Y game" you can go way back in history and do that all over the place. It's irrelevant at this point. The old coach is gone and isn't coming back. Time to look forward.

What was Jeter's ability to keep the quality players around from the Pearl regime? He must have been able to convince quite a few to stay as they went to the Tourney his first season (after going to the Sweet 16 the year before).

I guess there are no guarantees, but if we knew we had TB, DSE and Prosser coming back for sure, that would be a nice start.
                              Go Braves!

Does anyone recall this from just last summer???

Whatever became of the "turmoil" Milwaukee was having??

"UW-Milwaukee has fallen hard since 2005"
"The school's athletic department is faced with the double whammy of a growing budget deficit and a drop in fund raising...UWM's
basketball program, under coach Rob Jeter, has receded from the national spotlight.

But attendance has fallen off in recent years. ...the Panthers would play three non-conference games at the Klotsche Center next season to save money.

The university has a lease at "The Cell" through the 2011-'12 season, but a proposal by Koonce to eventually move all home games back on campus is
supported by Jeter and women's basketball coach Sandy Botham.

A few years ago, a $40 million facility upgrade led to an athletic Pavilion adjacent to the Klotsche Center. Though the facility seats only 3,500, both
coaches see advantages in playing there.

"We would love to have a facility that is owned and run by the athletic department. That allows you to help generate revenue, allows you to help yourself."

Looks like Jeter's AD was fired for his "management style"
