It's madness to lump Bradley and Towson in the same class of program, but I think Katz' overall point is a solid one that applies to both schools. It just REALLY REALLY applies to Towson a lot more

I didn't read it as a comparison of Bradley to Towson.

A current story says Towson State is paying $400,000 ..and the Princeton people think "not a chance he goes to Bradley" or
"Bradley is at best a lateral move and much more likely a step down."

When you only go to the NCAA once every 10 years, and never even compete for MVC championships, in terms of name recognition, your program is no better than Towson.


Despite attendance in the top 50, total wins in the top 50, proud tradition, world class facilities... Our name recognition is only top 150 at best, and that's why we need to win more...

Agree 100%. As I said the other day, the BU job is a top 50 job...but will whoever gets it turn it into a top 50 program?

That's the million dollar question my friend (or maybe closer to the $450K question).

I didn't read it that way either. I think he was talking about a coach leaving an Ivy League power team to coach a team in a conference that's only a little big stronger than the Ivy League (that goes for both the Valley and the CAA as it's been five years since the CAA last earned multiple bids as well), and to teams that haven't made the NCAA Tournament close as often as Princeton has over the last 10 to 15 years.

That said though, I would think Bradley has a much more rich basketball history than Towson and Bradley has been much more competitive in recent years than Towson has in a long while. So yes, I think Bradley would be the more lucrative of the two jobs, but not a huge step up from Princeton recordwise unless a new coach can get Bradley back on track as far as NCAA Tournament appearances are concerned.
