  • ACC still upset at the MVC; Gary Williams still whining

This is hilarious, the coaches in the ACC are still ticked off and whining like babies. It's a must read for any MVC fan. These bozos are referring to last year's scheduling shrewdness by the MVC to outsmart the RPI as "The Revenge of the Nerds".

Then a quote from Barry Hinson--
"I kind of like that," Missouri State Coach Barry Hinson said. "What's great about 'Revenge of the Nerds' is that the nerds ended up winning. Last thing I know, they left with all the hot chicks."

There are several more funny quotes from Barry--

It's funny. I mean all they have to do is play Valley teams, but they refuse. Haha.

Hinson is great! I love it. Thats a great article. Those ACC guys embarass themselves! Are they really trying to suggest the MVC teams are ducking them? That's exactly how they "cracked the code". They will never get it.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

Hey, there was a reference to SIU? Did you guys catch it?

Here it is (from CAA's Commish, Yeager, comparing the BCS teams as Ferrari's and then SIU):

"They are going on the offensive? Who are they playing?" Yeager said of some ACC teams' scheduling. "It's like putting bad gas in your car. You may have a Ferrari, but if you start putting bad gas in it, then it starts sputtering and coughing and maybe it's parked on the side of the road. And the little Yugo zooms by you."

I have another idea why BCS teams might not play MVC schools. First - they could lose. 2nd - it would be on national tv.

Or would it? Maybe that's why... the MVC doesn't get enough great games covered... like in these situations.....

          11-14-06

          UNI @ Washington NOT TELEVISED

          instead:
          Sacred Heart @ UNC (ESPNU)
San Jose St @ Stanford (ESPNU)

          11-24-06

Wisconsin @ Missouri St NOT TELEVISED

          instead:
Ball St @ Kansas (ESPN-fc, full court)
Youngstown St @ Ohio St (ESPN-fc)
          Marshall @ California (ESPN2)

          11-25-06

George Mason @ Creighton NOT TELEVISED
Wichita St @ LSU NOT TELEVISED

          instead:
Kansas @ Florida ESPN2 (GREAT GAME BUT ONLY GAME SCHEDULED ON TV???)

          12-2-06

Wichita St @ Syracuse NOT TELEVISED

          instead:
          UAB @ Cincinnati (ESPNU)
          Charlotte @ Indiana (ESPN-fc)

          12-9-06

          Xavier @ Creighton NOT TELEVISED

          instead:
          Toledo @ Kansas (ESPN2)
Cleveland St @ Ohio St (ESPN-fc)
          Pitt @ Buffalo (ESPN-fc)
          Georgia Tech @ Vandy (ESPN2)
Penn St @ Seton Hall (ESPN-fc)
          Arkansas-LR @ Minnesota (ESPN-fc)
          UIC @ Illinois (ESPN-fc)
          Mizzoo @ Purdue (ESPN360)
          BYU @ Michigan St (ESPN2)
          Centenary @ Texas TEch (ESPN-fc)

No wonder there is a BCS bias.

Oh no...now the elite posters on the SIU board will have fodder for another million posts with that Yugo reference.

By the way, did Maryland coach Gary Williams give any explanation for his teams horrible performance in the one point win they squeaked out over a medicre D-II team in their exhibition?

              That article is a gas.
They sort of admit right from the start that everything they say and do this season is all PR and self promotion.
They still can't face the facts that two MVC teams were still in the NCAA tournament when all their ACC guys were getting beat.
If Gary Williams wants to be taken seriously about him deserving an NCAA bid last year, then he needed to show it with his performance in the NIT.
Instead they looked like Yugos racing against Ferraris.
