IMO, the new hire should be "under the gun" if you are anti or pro Admin. You don't fire a coach who was beset with injuries this season, with great new facilities, and a good recruiting class coming in, or was, if you can't find someone who will win immediately. I for one look at this change with skeptisism, think I spelled it right, but I wish the new coach well and hope he takes us to the Big Dance.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

why in the world would a new coach be "under the gun" the first year?
I don't think it's fair to treat the next coach unfairly just because the last one got fired.....We didn't do that the last time?

I'd rather watch talented players who are motivated and well coached!

JL was fired becasue he couldn't win (which means that maybe he couldn't coach). The injuries had nothing to do with it. This year, BU should have had at least 4-5 more wins than what they did. Just look at the the Ill St games. If he wins the games that the team should have won, then I think JL would still be here.

I know that the recruits liked him and are sorry to see JL go, but I hope they wait to see who comes in because they will are going to have a better "coach" to play for at BU. Maybe the new guy will not be as likeable, but I'm confident he will be a better coach.

Most logical, educated, and fair-minded people understand this lefty. Unfortunately, some "fans" choose not to.

He'd better be; I'm confident that he will be. It's about time for BU to be returned to glory.

Yeah...stupid me for wanting a good coach.

I never said it was easy. I just want a good hire. I'm tired of people saying BU can't make NCAA runs on a semi-regular basis.

Butler's top assistant is Matt Graves -- his name has been mentioned in regard to the BU job --
but he'd also be the guy who would take over Butler should Brad Stevens get a $2-3 million offer from Tennessee...
but he's the guy right now that I'd go hardest after...

Anyway -- IU Hoosier fans want Stevens...

IMO, that would be a very bad career move for Stevens. He does not fit in with the flamboyant, win at all costs attitude of Tennessee fans. He also does not recruit the overly athletic and flashy player, plus his style of game is less entertaining than what they are accustomed to. I think he'd end of being run out of town if he didn't win 70%+ of his games.

I think that JD was saying that Stephens is a coach that gets the job done. He is at a midmajor school and conference, but has got the right players for his system. Butler has been the cream of the horizon for awhile. Braves fans want similar things and I don't think anyone thinks it is so easy to do.
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

I could definitely see Stevens leave for a lot more money next season because Mack will be gone and it will be his best opportunity if he ever plans on moving up.

what?? some folks choose "not to" treat the new coach in some way??
we don't even have a clue who the new coach is and nobody has treated the new guy in any way whatsoever...and yet somehow you see someone treating the new coach unfairly?? Wow -- you'll sure win arguments with that kind of reasoning...

What other context is there in which to take that?

I'm getting really tired of being told that because I don't agree with treating a great AD like cr@p, an alum and at least moderately successful coach like cr@p, and defending a kid who gave BU his all that I am somehow a lesser fan. By the same folks who constantly demeaned our coach all season. Sorry B4L, nothing was taken out of context there.

^^ Since the above was not good enough, I can't wait to see something better. And since I keep hearing about how the above team was only only good enough for a last place finish, JG/MC should have no problem finding a coach who can build a better team right away.
