Rock Island & Chasson Randle (12 pts) humble Chicago Brooks 55-36 and play for the Championship tomorrow. Brooks' two starting guards, Mike Powell deciding between UC-Irvine & Northeastern, 1-14) & George Marshall (Wisconsin - Bo Ryan had to love this, 1-12) -- both D-I recruits averaging 18 ppg, were a combined 2-26 from the floor!!!

Centralia leads North Chicago 31-26 at half

    Glenbard East - Simeon 6:30PM
Normal Community (Anthony Beane) - Warren 8PM

      4A Semis

      Simeon - 56
      - Rashawn McElrath: 17
      - Jabari Parker: 16
      - Darien Walker: 12
      Glenbard East - 53
      - Johnny Hill: 22
      - Kevin Priebe: 11

      Warren - 55
      - Darius Paul: 16
      - Brandnon Ferguson: 13
      - Jeremiah Jackson: 10
      Normal - 43
      - Anthony Beane: 21

The 3rd place match-up between Glenbard and Normal is intriguing for Redbird fans, because our Senior signee is going up against our assistant's Junior son.

Darius Paul (junior on Warren) is raw but I'd love to have him...

only quite recently did Rivals scramble to get a page for Darius, and scout.com still does not list him anywhere in their system...

Still cant believe Randle is going out to Stanford....

Not sure why you'd wanna go to that stalling program, but we never had a shot at him....so I guess it doesn't make that much of a difference.

Stanford is exactly where I'd want to be. Stanford is the perfect example of a school that has made a commitment to both athletics and academics. Stanford is probably the most overall desirable school in the country for incoming students IMO. Academics, sports, weather, it's the total package.

I agree with everything you've written. Chasson has been weighing his D1 options ever since he was a Sophomore and you can be sure he labored over this decision and is comfortable with his selection.

Isn't Chasson going to be the valedictorian of his Senior class? He's really an exceptional kid.

Yes. His dad is an assistant coach at Illinois State.

Agreed, would you rather spend November-March in Palo Alto, California or anywhere in the midwest?

And correct me if I'm wrong, but didnt he say he wants to do pre-med at Stanford? If so there arent very many schools that are much better than that... and none of them have the climate that Stanford has

totally shocked to see how FEW people were there -- barely a single person visible in the upper bowl..

the Saturday night session at March Madness used to not only sell out but scalpers were asking $100 for choice seats!
Now -- nobody seems to care --- I wonder if IHSA will address this as attendance has plummeted since going to 4 classes..

The girls sessions on March 5 puts the boys sessions to shame...
Attendance records for IHSA girls basketball tournament. Largest  Attendance, Tournament STATE FINAL TOURNAMENT CLASS A: 22,375 , in 1996 ...

They should really pull it back to just 2 or 3 classes. It was a great event before, if they want to try to fix it by going to 3 classes I would be okay with that. I think football was better when they stopped at 6 classes instead of 8.

Did anyone happen to notice how loud the rims seemed to be for the high school tournament games? I watched on t.v. or went to almost every BU game this year and I never heard them this loud.

Many high school teams shot really bad this year but most of the kids interviewed mentioned the background being a huge distraction. Does anyone know if the rims or standards used at the civic center are adjusted/tightened to the same levels as a college game? Maybe they are the same but it sure sounded and looked different.

These big names surprise me. His mother sat next to me for a while Sat night and I asked her how his recruiting was going. Her answer," not as good as we'd hoped, has some interest but not as much as we'd like." Don't know if that meant Bruce hasn't offered or what but thats what she said. I'd love to get him also. She said Darius has gone on a growth spurt and is now 6'8" . Bigger then his brother by several inches.

Just read where the Indiana State Finals in all classes just had their lowest attendance ever since going to 4 classes....and they have the hottest prep talent they've had in decades!!
Splitting classes appears to substantially decrease interest...
