An interesting reply to the Princeton fans. I would point out, however, that Princeton has been to the NCAAs nine times since 1990, much more than the two Bradley has. They have done it with different coaches and different playing styles, so they must recruit some pretty good athletes of their own.

Also, moving from the 15th ranked RPI conference to the 12th ranked RPI conference is not that big of a step. Things are a lot different now than in 2006.

Andy Katz has spoken. I'll take his word about if it's sensible for him to leave Princeton for Bradley over most anyone on this board:

Princeton has received inquiries if it would allow Sydney Johnson to talk to Bradley and Towson. Huh? Johnson has done a sensational job at resurrecting the Tigers program. But Bradley and Towson? Sure, there are connections with Bradley's AD Mike Cross, who was at Princeton, and Johnson has Maryland ties in the Towson-area. But leaving his alma mater, Princeton, a place where he has great emotional investment, for these two schools would only be a money grab.

I don't know -- but the strange vibes are there....BU has Princeton connections thru Cross and Towson/Maryland connections thru JG...would it be a done deal...

although I just got yet another PM saying BU's is close to a done deal with another midwestern coach/candidate....and if true it's gonna be a shock...

I find it more interesting Katz thinks of our job on a relatively even plane as Towson's job, which is quite insane. But it's interesting he felt the need to say that a jump from Princeton to Bradley isn't large enough for Sydney Johnson to commit to.

Agreed, TAS. Towson just isn't even close to even Princeton's level when it comes to Basketball. The bottom of the CAA doesn't look like the bottom of the MVC. I also agree that the question ultimately is if Bradley is enough of a jump for SJ to for it to be more advantageous in any assumed quest for a BCS job. Towson is a total non-starter, but a successful coach at Bradley can "win big," meaning Sweet Sixteen or Elite Eight type stuff. A guy in the Ivy League can't do that... but the reality is that Johnson could be in line for a BCS job already anyway, in which case a move to BU doesn't make sense.

I know they did. Still think it was a miracle, moreso than anything you can actually expect to have go your way now and again. I do find the "recruiting" going on at Harvard to be kind of interesting. There's already articles out there suggesting that it's not all quite above board. I kind of think it's par for the course in a conference like the MVC or bigger conferences, but it'll be interesting to see if the Ivy League continues to tolerate it or will eventually pressure schools to return to the spotless good old days.

Hey man. I'm not saying that they haven't won a lot more games than us of late. There's no disputing that. I'm just saying that the BU job is a better job. More fans come out to see you play. A better level of overall conference competition. A more fertile recruiting area and you can get better athletes. That's all.
