Yes some companies will bring in "The Bobs" to do that kind of stuff but in this case Parker was brought in to do this
"As the world's leading executive search firm in collegiate athletics, we understand the complexities involved in collegiate athletic searches, including the high expectations and demands of various constituency groups and the management of public perception. To address those issues and challenges faced by the client, the Parker Collegiate Athletic Search Process was developed. Through this process, Parker Executive Search has successfully completed search assignments for many public and private colleges and universities, providing leaders at all levels of intercollegiate sports, including athletic administrators and coaches."
Bringing this firm in does not in anyway reduce the pressure or risk on JG or MC, it simply helps them make the best choice they can.

I like that they are bringing in a group of experts in this matter. Imagine the alternative? How would you expect them to be able to reach out to said candidates? $75 K may sound steep but in reality for an executive search job it is on par with industry standard.
On keeping a lid on it. We all now know they are capable of doing that, just wish it had happened with JL's firing."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

We all need to remember that the search firm is only as good as the information and guidelines that they are given by the University.Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

I've been in meetings where that strategy has been discussed and implemented in two top companies.Onward and Upward!
