More Bradley rumors

Only semi-"on topic" but one of the espn rumor mill stories-- which have been obviously cobbled together in the shortest time possible by scouring other media sources-- mentioned Tracy Webster. He obviously didn't get (or take?) our assistant's job last season, but what does anyone think of him as a candidate. I actually thought he did a nice job in a real rough spot in DePaul.

How would you define "a real nice job" with DePaul? He might be a good coach, but how can anyone tell.
I don't actually see how he could have done any worse. He was 1-14 as a head coach at DePaul. He has also been involved in some NCAA rule violation as an assistant under Billy Gillispie at Kentucky.

We won more times than when Hersey was here...Molinari's mid 90s teams, JJ Anderson's teams, Stowell's and Osborne's teams in the 60's, Osborne and Anderson's teams in the 50s, and Robertson in the 30s and 40s. Perhaps, either you are not from Peoria or too young. I just hope that some folks here are not just satisfied with middle of the pack finishes and teams that hover just over. 500. Too bad it seems like this type of discussion is like either a broken record or talking to walls. In any case I think we can all agree the administration better get this hiring right.

It related to watching a couple of games and catching a couple on the radio. The level of play and effort was drastically improved over jerry wainwright's tenure. As far as I'm concerned he's another assistant coach with a good reputation, with experience in several "big" programs. He's hard for me to distinguish from any of the other assistant candidates, other than a brief stint as an interim coach on the tail end of one of the very worst head coaching performances ever (the wainwright regime).

Maybe he has some decent qualities as a coach, but how is his personality? I've heard mixed things about him as a person, and I'm not sure I would want him as a Bradley coach, as much as a long shot as this rumor is anyway.

Stan Albeck was a really nice guy! DV did not have the same reputation. Nice guys finish last.

Stan, IMO, just didn't like to recruit and it showed after the players DV left him were gone. I'll give him credit for being able to keep DV's players at Bradley. I hope the new coach can do the same. As for DV's reputation, how many of us ever heard of him before he got the BU job? He always treated me good whenever we met and I'm yet to hear what he did wrong that amounted to anything. He told it like it was when the Braves got snubbed by the NCAA in 1982 and they never forgot that. IMO, the admin screwed up then also.

I'm not disputing anything you said on this post. Stan was a different sort of personality then DV. Stan walked around campus, went to The Luck Lady and held court with the students (at least for the one year I was there while he coached). DV on the other hand might of been friendly with the adult fans (and I heard a little too friendly with some but I digress) but was not one to mix it up with the students. I'm not saying wrong or right but DV had way more success.
