Only semi-"on topic" but one of the espn rumor mill stories-- which have been obviously cobbled together in the shortest time possible by scouring other media sources-- mentioned Tracy Webster. He obviously didn't get (or take?) our assistant's job last season, but what does anyone think of him as a candidate. I actually thought he did a nice job in a real rough spot in DePaul.

How would you define "a real nice job" with DePaul? He might be a good coach, but how can anyone tell.
I don't actually see how he could have done any worse. He was 1-14 as a head coach at DePaul. He has also been involved in some NCAA rule violation as an assistant under Billy Gillispie at Kentucky.

Perhaps, either you are not from Peoria or too young. I just hope that some folks here are not just satisfied with middle of the pack finishes and teams that hover just over. 500. Too bad it seems like this type of discussion is like either a broken record or talking to walls. In any case I think we can all agree the administration better get this hiring right. What part of illegal don't you understand?

It related to watching a couple of games and catching a couple on the radio. The level of play and effort was drastically improved over jerry wainwright's tenure. As far as I'm concerned he's another assistant coach with a good reputation, with experience in several "big" programs. He's hard for me to distinguish from any of the other assistant candidates, other than a brief stint as an interim coach on the tail end of one of the very worst head coaching performances ever (the wainwright regime).

The nearly 50-year-old Thomas??™ link to Bradley would be his Chicago roots and BU interim coach Willie Scott,
who would certainly stay on staff in the Thomas-as-coach scenario. The pair grew up together and played on the same AAU team in high school.

Originally posted by Chico View PostStan, IMO, just didn't like to recruit and it showed after the players DV left him were gone. I'll give him credit for being able to keep DV's players at Bradley. I hope the new coach can do the same. As for DV's reputation, how many of us ever heard of him before he got the BU job? He always treated me good whenever we met and I'm yet to hear what he did wrong that amounted to anything. He told it like it was when the Braves got snubbed by the NCAA in 1982 and they never forgot that. IMO, the admin screwed up then also."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

Isiah Thomas? The same Isiah Thomas who froze Chicago ICON Michael Jordan out in an All-Star game?
Isaih Thomas, the same Chicago kid who didn't shake hands after his "Bad Boy" Pistons finally got one up'd by the Bulls?
The same Isiah Thomas who single handedly ruined the CBA and drove it into extinction!
The same Isiah Thomas who ruined the New York Knicks as GM and coach (correction), and for some reason the Knicks still trust his judgement!?!
Same one who got accused of sexual harrassment with those same NYK that he ran into the ground, and took his banishment to FIU. Only to flirt with a job with the Knicks again, and serve in a blantant role of "ad-hoc" advisor to the NYK his former employer to advise Carmelo Anthony and owner James Dolan that they were a match for each other.
The last of which is a serious conflict of interest that a college coach is consulting with a professional team.
Yet, someone would consider him coaching at Bradley University and write it in a serious tone like it is/was/should be a possibility?
No thanks. Too much baggage, and on top of that the dynamic between his ego and JG's would be a running soap opera.Last edited by NSBF; 03-23-2011, 09:25 AM.
