  • Down Goes Louisville

Cassius Clay hailed from Louisville, but the Cardinal, unlike the champ, had no knockout punch, and lose to Morehead State...

    a 13 seed beats a 4 seed....

???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???

What a great finish to that game!!!
    Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

So what does that leave, only 10 teams from the Big East?

Let's see....Morehead State finished behind regular conference champion Murray State in the Ohio Valley Conference. Of course their conference champion, like ours, doesn't get a bid because....hey.....the Big East and other power conferences are sooooooo much better and really deserve to get 6 to 11 teams in each while our champions sit.

      One word..........Sweet.

Now despite what just happened with Princeton falling a basket short of Louisville, I hope the mid's just clean up on the "big boys"!

I did have ODU going to the Sweet 16. But I should have known that you never count out a reigning national runner up team despite a somewhat "down" year by Butler. Even though I had ODU only going to the Sweet 16, I hope Butler runs the table and actually wins the tourney this year. If not them, George Mason or VCU would do as well.

Btw, I moved VCU into the Sweet 16 based on their performance last night. If they get by their first round game, they would play a very depleted Purdue team in the round of 32. Or maybe it will be St. Peter's because I'm not sure how far Purdue will get! I still have them winning at least their first game as I think they have enough to get by the #14 seed. But the problem is you can't sell St. Peter's short either. Based on Morehead St today, St Peter's definitely has a shot.

And besides, when was the last time a team with my name made the NCAA Tournament?!

I'll preface this with the disclaimer that I am a Louisville fan, but while Morehead St was deserved to win the game, it was hardly an argument against the big east. Louisville played arguably their worst game of the season, and their leading scorer suffered a broken toe during the second half and left the game. They shot 40% from the free throw line, and lost by 1 pt to a 3 pointer with 4 seconds on the clock. Do I think Missouri st should of gotten in? Sure, but a miraculous upset of a high level big east team doesn't condemn the big east, yet.
