Has anyone seen any kind of press at all about the 5-0 start for our league? I know it will likely be short-lived, but it's a great feeling to win some games...

I know these are "minor" tournaments with most games played at home, but these are still very respectible teams our teams are playing, save for San Diego St. You combine this with some upsets or close upsets already today during the NCAA Tournament, and once again this has to draw attention to the so-called experts who think mid-majors have no business competing with the "big boys".
However, most will continue to ignore this fact in the name of the almighty dollar!

I am pleased to see us win some post-season games. I'm not all that convinced yet, though that we can go deeper in these tourneys.
The ones that truly matter...well, not quite as much as the Big Dance...are the NIT games, where the Big Boys normally hang out.
We'll be doing well if either MSU or WSU win their next game, but I think that the home-court edge helped. Missouri St. has failed in other true road games vs. non-conf. foes. Maybe they can turn the tide. It would be nice for them to follow up their CIT success last year and MVC championship with a final 4 NIT.
Did I think we'd go 5-0 after what I witnessed this Valley season? No.
Do I think we'll have a winning record in the next round? No
Have I been wrong before? No...I mean YES!

The real problem with today is how they paired 2 of the best mid-majors in Butler and Old Dominion against each other so only 1 would be left, both of those teams were capable of advancing further in the tour. which is why they eliminated 1 so they could keep more money for the big schools .
Wichita St. should have won the conf. and the tour. with all the talent that they have, they have sweet 16 talent but for whatever reason did not play like it when it mattered most.

Agreed on Wichita St. However, as much I do not like to see mid majors paired, it does make sure that one of the mid majors has a good shot at the Sweet 16. So I think you have to look at it like a wash statistically speaking.
Say you team them against two BCS teams. It is unlikely they both win their games and advance, especially with how teams are seeded. So I do not have a huge problem with two mid majors playing in the first round.

I do when I hear Doug Gottlieb on the radio saying this game is for the mid-major national championship, I would put either one of these teams up against any other 8 or 9 seed,

Except in this case the winner gets the #1 seed Pittsburg. Good way to get rid of both good mid-majors.

I don't buy that. When you have 32 non BCS teams in the tournament, some are bound to play each other in the first round. And it guarantees one will advance where in your scenario there is always a chance both would lose.
And the seedings actually worked out here. This game could not have been closer!

I think what he meant was that these are the two teams he thought would have the best chance to make a deep run in the tournament. Although I certainly will not count George Mason or San Diego St. out either.
