Please, if Bobby Knight would consider BU - which I think we can all agree that he would not - all of us AND the administration would slobber all over him.

Not nearly close to being accurate at all. I wouldn't be for a Knight hire of any generation at all! I just hope that Bobby goes back to the Little General's room and stays there.

Puh-lease...we'd all be goo goo for Bobby if he actually came here.

It'd put butts in the seats and get students to the games.

And I agree with MOBrave - it'd be nice to have a winner in town.

Bobby Knight would not guarantee a winner. Sorry, but his time has long since passed. And there are a lot of boosters, myself included, who would not be in support of him being hired, and would not be interested in continuing my same level of support to the program.

It would create excitement and we would be more nationally known...but it wouldn't necessarily mean we would do better.

I wouldn't be for hiring BK either

Come on guys.....you can't be serious. If BU announced tomorrow that Bobby Knight signed on as your next head coach, this forum would be blowing up in excitement. He would be back in the midwest and probably out recruiting most big 10 teams for the braves. Whether he's still got it or not as a coach is irrelevant at that point. You would be loaded with enough talent to dominate the MVC for years and be a perennial NCAA team from the MVC (until he does something stupid ).

You guys are nuts. If ISU had a chance to sign on Bobby Knight for the next 4 years.......see ya Jank.

                    I'd rather have Dick Vitale.

I guess since there is next to no chance BK would ever end up coaching at BU its ok for people to poo poo the idea that everyone would be in gaga over him.

But the exact reasons that some of you guys give to poo poo other candidates stand in direct opposition to the idea of hiring Bobby Knight.

The guy has won a TON of games. He recruits pretty good kids. Doesn't take crap from anyone (JG). He is a big name hire that would not only instill a ton of confidence in a more and more casual fan base but I'll bet that our current players and recruits would jump at the chance to play for him.

I'm not saying he is a good fit and I think the General would agree with me...but you can't argue both ways fellas. You can't say you want someone with a proven track record and then crap on a guy that has won more games as a coach than anyone else. Plus...the guy looks good in red.

As for boosters - a lot of the good people I know that donate their hard earned cash are ego driven folks (even if only slightly) who would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have their picture with taken with Knight. Heck, local endorsements & advertisements alone would flood the ADept.'s coffers with a hire like that.

If Knight actually wanted to coach here and my name tag says "Mike Cross" on it...I'd be open to talking with the guy.

I agree. In fact, if Knight expressed interested, and I was BU I'd immediately change him into my top candidate and see if I can work it out.

I'd at least put a spin on it for PR purposes. If I'm Cross I'd return the call and find a way for BK to say nice things but make sure he would not take the job. Imagine having to manage that situation?

JG calls BK in the office telling him he has to suspend X player for Y amount of time for whatever reason. I'm sure BK would demand 100% control of any program he ran.

99.99999999% likely he won't come here. But in the .00000001% chance he does, count me as one who would support bringing the general in.

I understand why people would be gaga over BK.....I'm just saying I wouldn't be. I've never liked the guy much even though he was a great coach .

Actually it's kind of silly even talking about it...but that's the way it goes.
