I know this has been addressed in another thread, but any comparison between IPFW and Bradley -- and the coaching records -- is apples to oranges.

IPFW is a buy game 4-5 times each season and is a commuter school with very limited resources and no tradition in a bad league.

I'm not saying Dane Fife should be the BU coach, but he shouldn't be dismissed because of his record (which has been progressively better) at IPFW.

I think Fife is an interesting candidate. Im not sure how serious the school may be in him.

As for comparing what he has done at an inferior school, IMO, to what he may be able to do here is not fair. You are not recruiting the same type of talent to the Summit league as you are the Valley. The fact that he has improved each year says a lot to me.

Like some on here, I am not going to get overly excited about the coaches they are interviewing. I will get excited when they make a decision and hire someone.
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

IPFW has been in D-1 a grand total of 9 years...big difference between them and Bradley.

hmmm..just wonder -- in that same interval -- what was Jim Les' record against the same Summit League opponents that Fife racked up that tremendous 37-35 record against?....?

most Summit League teams we have never lost to in all of our history and most of the others Bradley has whopping, lopsided dominance over (like WIU, Centenary, North Dakota St., etc..)...so remind me how that proves anything about IPFW when he is barely above .500 against the same foes?

I think we can find plenty of other candidates with more impressive resumes...

This is not a relevant argument. If you feel that IUPUFW's players were of equal talent to those of Bradley, then this becomes a relevant argument. I do agree that there are more qualified candidates for BU.

13-11, 13-12, 13-13, 13-14 (only an example of an improvement)...That's an improvement year after year. Does that say a lot to you? He had an incredibly mediocre record. He should not even be considered. I cannot believe that he is in Peoria being interviewed. My expectations for Dr. Cross are severely diminished.

hey -- I have no problems with giving the guy an interview -- if he is truly the best and MOST qualified guy we have who's interested, then we may just have to hire him....but that would say a lot for the supposed "strong field of candidates" we have heard about....
... but let's temper our enthusiasm to hire him on the spot because of his winning conference record

again -- I rhetorically ask....as we did in baseball and volleyball -- do we want to hire a new coach who has a career head coaching record of under .500 and/or very limited D-I experience? That's fine if nobody any better applies..but honestly -- we have to do a bit better...and the "atmosphere" at Bradley should be such that we should draw FAR stronger candidates...not saying it is but the atmosphere SHOULD BE

                  afan..come on man....

He hasnt hired or offered the job to him that we know...

maybe he did it as a favor, or maybe he is totally serious...

But to criticize cross, for interviewing someone, seems pretty reactionary.

I agree with you on this..

I hope he would work out better on the records I value, but it doesnt seem a statement hire, and he is youuuuuuuuuuuuung.

This "scares" me.. I don't think that we should have even interviewed him. Sorry coach, nothing personal.

Remy will be tough to replace, but i'm sure their is several thousand decent to good basketball players looking for a place to play ball next season. A good recruiter should be able to reel 1 or 2 in within a couple months, especially with practicing in brand new facilities and a great education.

I think you are grossly underestimating the recruiting process. First off finding guys that fit your system, then getting to know players, and becoming someone they are comfortable with, finally having them commit. It's a long process, and especially at this time with hundreds of players already committed to schools all over the country, whoever is BU's next coach will have a major rebuilding task ahead of him.

PLEASE!!! No Lickliter! If anyone is to be avoided, it's him.
He has no personality and probably wouldn't connect as well as other candidates with student-athletes. He seemed burnt out at Iowa - this would be an absolute downgrade. Not sure how he succeeded at Butler, but if "what have you done for me lately" is at work, he is at the bottom of my list.
