You very well could be right. I wouldn't do it until we have a coach in place, but many people disagree with that.

Hold him hostage? He he signed a LOI and the Spring signing is a few weeks away. His handlers can speak to whomever they like. Releasing him now would not do us any good. We will have to release him at some point but why not after he speaks to our new coach? if he wants to go, I'd let him go. Does BU no good to play hard ball with these kids. Now, I think we should hold kids to their LOIs but, again, doesn't do us any good in the end.Comment

JMHO
1. If a school fires a coach, then any incoming player signed for the next year should be automatically released to sign anywhere. It is the fair thing to do to the incoming player who committed to the school and the coach.
2. If a school fires a coach, then the institution should not be able to grant a release to an eligible player currently on the team until the school hires a new coach. This is fair to the school and the player.Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

There's basically no chance that Abell will ever be a Brave, trying to put the hooks in him (even for a short time) does nothing other than burn some bridges that BU might want to cross again sometime.
Either get a late period guy or roll it over, messing around with an unwinnable battle does no one any good.Comment
