Remy is "in the process" of asking for his release from Bradley per Jody Demling! Not anything unexpected but disappointing nonetheless!

Where are all the people saying that "eventually recruits where going to have to be lost anyway, might as well fire JL this year" now? We may have lost the best recruit in a long long time hear thanks to the decision.
Thanks BU administration.

It makes you wonder though. This was the first real recruiting class with the new facilities. I think the new coach, depending on how good of a recruiter he is, should be able to bring in some excellent talent. I hate seeing Remy go somewhere else, but it is part of the game. There will be other very talented kids at Bradley before long...Thinking is the hardest work, that is why so few people do it. -Henry Ford
Yeah...I've been in college for a while now and I'm pretty sure that awesomest is not a word. -Andrew E.

Dont get me wrong I hope he comes here and I hope hes great but havent we all learned not to buy into the hype by now? Just look at Wilkins. People were making him out to be some kind of one and done NBA player. I also remember when we signed WE people were comparing him to Dirk Nowitski. Heck, I remember people salivating over Rashad Austin. Maybe Remy will be great but we've heard the same thing with recruits for years.

I think the fact that Remy has coaches like Tom Crean and John Calipari calling him is a pretty good hint just how good he is and will be in college. Please don't compare him to John Wilkins, who had nothing but a handful of midmajor offers.
This news is not good. IMO, Remy might have been the next All-American-caliber player at Bradley, and we don't get that type of player often.
Sam leaving; Remy backing out; what's next? This is following along the lines predicted by some fans who were accused of "scare tactics" by the fire-JL folks.

From what I hear, he was 100% committed to Jim Les and Bradley. I wouldn't be surprised if he was starting to get those calls before Jim Les was fired, since the rumors have been known for months. But I am sure he'd be here, as would Sam, if Les would have been retained another year.
Also, if JL was still our coach, Remy wouldn't be asking out of his LOI, since he would know Bradley wouldn't grant it.

I'm fine with short term losses if it leads to long term gains. We've had hyped recruits before and ample opportunities to make strides beyond middle of the Valley pack in the last 9 years and didn't do it. There is no track record to prove that even with a full team back and the recruits that we would have contended for anything. I'm sick of the Cubs mentality, "wait till next year".
I wish Remy would still come, just like I wish Sammy would stay, but it's time for a change and if that means mass defections, so be it. To me that means lots of immediate playing time and lots of open space and room to grow in the new facilities for anybody who really wants to be a Brave. Can't wait to get a new coach in place and get the next chapter of Bradley basketball underway. And if we end up in last place next year and 5th place the following year and 4th place the year after that as the new regime gets settled in, well we all already know how to deal with that don't we.

I have been skeptical about the local hype and comparisons of previous recruits with the exception of Jordan Prosser whom I took the effort to see while he was playing High School basketball. However, the comments about Abell are coming from outside the Bradley and Peoria area and from a very well respected recruiting journalist in Jody Demling. Some big time coaches are now after Abell and there has to be a good reason for that!Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
