I have been skeptical about the local hype and comparisons of previous recruits with the exception of Jordan Prosser whom I took the effort to see while he was playing High School basketball. However, the comments about Abell are coming from outside the Bradley and Peoria area and from a very well respected recruiting journalist in Jody Demling. Some big time coaches are now after Abell and there has to be a good reason for that!
Yeah.....it'll be very interesting to see how "over-hyped" he really is.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12
I hope Remy enjoys sitting the bench at Louisville or Kentucky. Just a prediction as they recruit McDonalds All-Americans on top of him year after year. He will live to regret this decision. mark my words

We don't have any idea whether he will be great or average.
Dont denigrate the young man.
BU, IMO, made the appropriate decision for BU.
There are going to be short term consequences, one of them being that BU might not finish in the 2:30 game next year.
Me, I am staying calm and focused on the long term future of this program, not one group of players.
If he goes, sorry to see him go and hope for the best in his future. I am not excited by such news, but it goes with the territory. I understand that these young men sign on to play with a certain coach and when he is no longer there, they want to investigate new oppurtunities. We have no idea how good he will be yet, so I am also not going to get upset over his leaving. If BU is the great school that we all believe it to be, then there will be other players to step in.
I am taking a wait and see approach.
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.
More about Remy Abell from Jody Demling in an article about the top Sweet 16 players whom have signed loi's in their tournament.
" I won??™t include Eastern??™s Remy Abell on any list because I believe in the next week or so he will be back on the board for colleges to recruit again. He??™s not free of the letter now, so I??™ll leave him off any lists. Just know that he??™s a special talent. He has signed with Bradley but coach Jim Les was fired and he??™s trying to get out of his letter."

Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
Can't believe the Les-haters are surprised by these events... what did you think would happen?
I don't consider myself a Les hater.I was ready for a change. Every year there are incoming recruits that we could lose with a change. I hope they still come, and I think RA would be very good. But it actually seemed like a good year to make a change without losing much of the team. I didn't count the fact that Seniors could transfer. I missed that. But I thought the existing team would mostly stay in tact. I don't think a transfer makes much sense for most of the current players. I also think Bradley would make sense for Donovine if we hire the right coach. I think making a hire soon is important, but I guess if we have someone in mind that is still playing we have to wait. Anyway I thought we would probably lose RA, I hope he still comes, but that is the price you have to pay for change.
All I'll say is that a decision on the long-term coach and leader of this program shouldn't be based on any single player, either current or incoming.
If Remy is a "casualty" of the decision, so be it. No matter how good or bad he ends up being. But you can't let him be the sole reason behind the idea of keeping Les another year. That's just irresponsible. (of course, if you had other reasons to keep Les another year, THAT's the justification, not Remy)
I was in the give JL one more year camp and I wish this is what we would have done. But its over and JL isnt coming back. I dont understand why we have people beating this in to the ground. I dont want to bash the President for firing JL and I dont want to bash players or recruites for leaving. Its over, its done with. What I want and expect is for BU to make a great hire and that we build for the future. Why cant the fan base get on with it and get together and support BU basketball? There isnt three different camps in this there is one "Bradley basketball fans".
Lets start talking about the future, you cant change the past.

I agree, obviously I want Remy to be at BU next year, but the long-term health of the program is what counts. This really shouldn't be surprising to anyone anyways, just another ripple effect of the firing, there was bound to be massive turnover, and I believe that Remy and Sam will not be the last players to "leave" the program.
