  • Who is your National Player of the Year?

a lot of good players..Duke's Nolan Smith, Purdue's JaJuan Johnson, UConn's Kemba Walker...etc..

but I say no player created more talk, more highlights, and more debate one way or the other than Jimmer Fredette...
Not to mention he never had an off night, carries his team on his back at times, and LED THE NATION in scoring 28.5 ppg -- a full four ppg better than his closest competitor

I have loved to watch Purdue play this year, but there is no doubt in my mind that the POY should be Jimmer!
    Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Jimmer is certainly not the best college player but he was definitely the POY. No other college player captured the nation's attention all season long for their outstanding play like Jimmer. Remove him from that BYU team and they become very ordinary; I don't think that would be the case with any other POY candidate.

When people use your name as an adjective (Jimmered), you know you've got a great chance of being named POY!

I did try to make Farokhmaneshed a word and it never caught on...lol....so the fact the Jimmered aka Jimmermania caught on so quickly is real credence to how Jimmer has defined this season so much. the definitive POY.

When you have a player who almost outscored an entire game in the B10 tourney by himself..... lol

I think its between Kemba Walker and Jimmer. Kemba put UConn on his back during the Big East Tourney and when his team neded him the most in big games. Then again, you take him off of that team it doesnt make near the impact of taking jimmer off of BYU.

So my vote is for Jimmer with Walker a close 2nd.

Gotta love the Jimmer, but Walker is just a better player. Walker would get my vote. But I'd pay more money to watch the Jimmer and wonder how in the world did he get that shot off?

My top 3 are Jimmer, Kemba and Sullinger...

Sullinger has a good supporting cast, but what he did as a freshman, for the number 1 team in the land is pretty impressive IMO
???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???

My vote would be for Jimmer. While Kemba is a very good player, he does take a lot of bad shots, he is a bit of a gunner, he takes a ton of shots a game, he has had many "bad" games where his shooting percentage was terrible, etc. Jimmer has shown much more consistency at all levels.

The Naismith Coach of the Year has narrowed to FOUR finalists...
                    Notre Dame's Mike Brey
                    Ohio State's Thad Matta
                    BYU's Dave Rose
                    San Diego State's Steve Fisher

Matta has the best talent by far -- and it's a whole lot less surprising to see the seaosn he had than the other three guys..and a coupel of the others have some fine transfer and senior talent...
                    BYU was

I think the final four candidates should be ranked in this order...

Rose -- BYU was unranked to start the seaosn and had won 10 games before they were in the Top 15 -- then when they lost ONE -- they practically dropped all the way out again! Nobody thought they'd do this well.

Fisher -- also unranked to start but were Top 10 by 6th-7th week

Brey -- deserving since they're in the toughest conference

Matta -- they've been in the Top 5 since the start of the season - it comes as little surprise that they won the Big Ten --

Kemba Walker helped lead UConn to the National Championship, he was runner up for Big East Player of the Year, and a candidate for the National Player of the Year awards. He is scheduled to graduate in May after only 3 years at UConn, and will be a lottery pick in the NBA draft.
But recently in a Sports Illustrated interview, he admitted he had just read the first book that he has read in his life. http://www.miscellanynews.com/mobile...ocus-1.2548394

Some question whether this is evidence of UConn's emphasis on athletics at the expense of their student-athlete's academics.
UConn is a highly esteemed academic school, however, the men's basketball team has one of the lowest graduation rates in the country at just 31%. That number compares to UConn's general graduation rate of 78% for all students enrolled at the Storrs, Connecticut campus. That means that about 7 out of 10 players do not graduate. That is an embarrassment. But hey, they just won the national championship!

ESPN did say it was a state holiday in Iowa! haha I'd go with Jimmer, but I really don't know who got POY if it's been decided lol
