  • Creighton acceptsCBI bid

Creighton will play in the College Basketball Invitational and play a home game on Tuesday at Qwest Center Omaha. Opponent and time is to be determined.

ok -- let's start this debate -- good or bad -- when BU did it some said it was bad and mocked it calling the CBI the "A-E-I-O-U TOURNEY"
Personally I think it is good -- good for the team and the Valley

I think playing extra games can be helpful for young teams. Gives them more time to learn how to win at the D-1 level.
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

Good if it is a stepping stone to something better, bad if its your defination of success for a season.

It is what it is; a springboard for younger teams.

2nd place finishes in these tournaments have been celebrated more here than a 1st place finish by Missouri State.

It's NIT or bust for Tulsa. I'm thinking Tulsa's season is over as a result.

I have no problem playing in these tourneys every year if the opportunity is there. Having said that though, I hope NO one mistakes my opinion for being satisfied with a slightly above .500 season every year. I'm not, and I for one think we can do much better. That said, if an invite goes our way, whether it is to be used as a stepping stone towards a much better season or not, there is certainly nothing wrong with playing more games. Playing in these tournaments may not always guarantee improvement during the following season, but playing more certainly benefits the younger players returning and it is better than just sitting around doing nothing. I for one most certainly do support these tournaments as they do have their place.

Well enjoy the offseason TB, because they did not make it.

That said, I hope they do consider a CBI/CIT invitation, but that's up to your coach and adminstration.

Nope Tulsa's not going anywhere...they basically gave the same reason BU gave last year for not going. Tulsa's got some young players that could benefit from more games, but oh well. All my teams are done now except ORU I guess.

The problem with these tournaments is they are a "pay to play" tournament basically. They are money losers for the schools, not money gainers.

I would not play in this tour. if my team had 3 or 4 senior starters, I would if you were going to play underclassman with the intention on getting them ready for next season, better for them to be playing instead of just hanging out somewhere.

By avoiding these tournaments last season, Les was able to devote more time to recruiting - not sure, but we got Walt Lemon Jr. maybe because of the extra time??? It probably gave him more time also to work on getting DS & RA. Hopefully at least one of these guys stays commited.

It's better for UNI than for CU. They can build on it more for next season with Koch, Sonnen, James. While they were a big part of last year's success, they haven't quite gelled this season.

For CU, Young will not get any better due to playing a game or 2 more. Little McD is already good, and this kind of tournament won't make him any more ready for a real tournament (NIT or NCAA). They have a lot of seniors, so what will it benefit them? At least they get another chance to put on the uniform. And it is a new coaching regime, so more games for McDermott is a plus...I guess.

This is my major reason against them as well.
