Where does Coach Les Go?

JL would make a perfect AD IMO! President would be a stretch because there is more to do with that job then sports and raising money. There is the ability to manage a whole campus of students, parents, alumni and most of all the staff that makes it all happen at a University. I'm not saying he could not but his resume does not shout that he should be President or that he would want that job.

I can't see JL coaching a lower profile mid-major right now. He put so much energy into building BU where it is, that trying to do that again for another school without the legacy and love he has for BU would be probably too much. I could see him becoming an assistant for Jerry Sloan if he ever went back to the coaching profession.

One more thing, I would not be surprised to see him as an analyst next year for a major media company. He's bright, articulate, NBA resume and the connections. He also has a contract in hand where he does not have to worry about how he will feed his family.

Well again, I wasn't directing my last post at you. But I have noticed an increase in "love" for Les since his firing, even from many in the anti-Les crowd. Just commenting on how many people change their tune once someone gets the ax. And I know for most it wasn't personnal against him, but there has been a lot of kudos towards him coming from people that were not very cordial to him at times this year. Again, I'm not directing this comment towards you B4L, just a general observation.

See, this is what I don't understand... I don't know anybody who wanted Coach Les to fail. (I'm sure some were out there, but I personally knew none). I did, however, know many people who thought he wasn't a great coach and/or was not the right man to take BU to the next level and keep us there.

Just because people wanted a coaching change doesn't mean that they

a) wish JL ill
b) think he wasn't successful (as subjective as the adjective "successful" is, to some folks even a terrible coach earning 6 figures is "successful")
c) don't still appreciate the fact that he was passionate about BU

So what is the point of this little jab at his detractors, exactly?

They then print what really has been going on up on the hilltop since the arrival of JG, forcing her and MC to resign after which JL and his investors sell the paper to a Japanese firm for a large profit! JL moves to California-buys a home over looking the Pacific Ocean and lives happily for the rest of his life.

This is total speculation, but I would guess that Peoria is as small of a community that JL would want to live in. NBA scouting, maybe starting his own business, who knows? But a low to mid D-1 coaching job is probably not something he's looking for. Again, totally pure speculation.

I do know this, he's the type that will be like a cat thrown from a 3 story window. Somehow the guy will land on his feet, make the best out of a tough situation, and be happy.

And for the record, I felt the administration was right in letting him go. But I still like the guy, and wish him well. It's going to be kind of fun to see where he ends up because I'm pretty sure it will end up positive.

Hey, that would be nice! Maybe he could hook up with ESPN and become an analyst there. Probably wishful thinking, but who knows. I'm sure he would do a great job in that capacity as well.

I know most did not want him to fail, but as I stated to another poster, this is not directed at you BA03, or even to a good majority of the "anti-Les" crowd.

There were a few posters here who I thought poured it on so much and were rather harsh towards the guy, all the while saying it was nothing personnal. But it's hard not to make it personnal when some of these posters were literally posting here every five minutes praying for his firing instead of backing the guy, at least until the season was over. And then some of these same people are now wishing the guy well and knowing he will be successful in whatever he chooses to do in the future, despite calling him a failure literally once an hour here.

So I do agree that many of the posters who wanted him fired were at respectful to the guy, but there were some IMO that went way overboard. Those are specifically the ones I was directing this post towards, and I agree that you were not one of them.

I have no idea where he'll go... I don't think he's the early retiring type, so he could end up with an NBA job (where I think he may be a bit better suited) somewhere. On the other hand, I think he'd be quite attractive to a lot of mid-major programs as a potential coach, and you can find a few articles out there suggesting the same. While his career at BU left many underwhelmed it's still a pretty good record as far as it goes in the national scheme of things. I think he will resurface somewhere, though maybe not this year.

Molinari always said everyone loves when you are "dead"...people complain about coaches(and players for that mattter) but when they actually get fired they do want them to do well and most people feel sorry for someone who gets fired...even if they do have a good long term buyout. As men our pride much of the time is associated with our career....I don't think there is one person out there that wishes JL ill will in whatever he decides to do.
