If my projections are correct, 14 of the 32 slots in the NIT are already taken by conference champions who did not win their conference tourneys and will not receive an at-large bid to the NCAA tourney. This is a much higher number than the past couple years.

Assuming MSU and UAB get expected high seeds in the NIT (assuming the at-large window closes)....the entire 6 line, not to mention the 7 and 8 lines, will be filled with autobid creampuffs. Yikes.
The NIT can NOT be happy. This will KILL first-round ratings. Look for the autobid rule to be repealed next year or an expansion to 40 teams.

One could easily argue that we are an "auto-bid cream puff" for the NCAA tourny. Dont really see them repealing anything. Its March Maddness Baby! Give every little guy a chance! The irony of us demeaning other programs while we get angry that we get demeaned by the BCS still ceases to amaze me...
