So is he going on a scholarship or just going to pay his way thru? They only have 1 scholarship left and several holes to fill. Looks like a couple comments on that story which probably goes along with several other Illini fans. Why use that scholarship on a 1 yr player when you can use it for a guy that can provide several seasons of good production?

Illinois already has 5 freshmen coming in next year. Probably a good idea to add a veteran as Maniscalco would be their only scholarship senior next year. It's likely that they will have more than the current 1 scholarship available as most Illini fans think 1 or 2 current players will transfer.
Anyone want Tyler Griffey? Bradley and Illinois could work a trade.

There's a new premium article on one of the Illini sites, and they say basically that Sam Maniscalco will be running the offense -- implying he'll be starting and playing pretty decent minutes..
and the writer of the premium story even cites that Dave Reynolds concurs...
"he (Sammy) said he was doing well and was on schedule. He was doing rehab and was optimistic he'd be 100% ...
.. Reynolds believes Maniscalco will be a big help to Bruce Weber's team.
"As far as how he's going to fit in with the Illini, you guys are gonna love him. He's a great kid. He's all about hustle
and toughness. He's 6 feet tall, and he's not gonna wow you with anything other than he has a great outside shot.
Illinois suffered through a lack of leadership the past two years. That is one of Maniscalco's best traits, and it will be
needed as he will be the only senior on the team.
"His leadership skills have been great at Bradley.
..Reynolds believes Maniscalco can run the team next year despite being new to the program..."
