Take A Bow, Coach Les

At the end of day, some players will transfer while others will stay. Though Sammy is very likely out the door, I'm betting that most will stay and a good deal of credit on that front should go to Coach Les and his staff for developing a cohesive team whose players love one another. Judging by the tweets from AT and WE alone, you can tell that these guys want to remain together, that they are selfless.

This selflessness comes from Coach Les, who showed little concern for himself with his actions re: SM and TB and did an outstanding job of developing his players as people and molding them into a band of brothers. I know JL won't go down in the BU coaching annals as an all-time great but, where it really, truly counts, I'll remember him fondly.

All of the players, as well as the BU basketball program, will be better going forward for having had Coach Les these past nine seasons. Thank you, Jim, and good luck.

Totally agree, JL will be much more revered when the final chapter is written than JG, MC or KW. Class always wins out, one has it - the other three don't - simple as that.

Funny, but I don't remember folks disliking Ozzie. All he did was win ... and everyone loves a winner.

Sure he got paid too much but then again not many people are capable of taking on such a job. He handled it well. I do think his teams lacked a cohesiveness every day - they had it sometimes, but often they did not. I always think he tried to recruit talented people who would graduate and represent the team well. For the most part he succeeded. Most of his players seemed like truly nice kids.

Surely BU could have found a way for him to "bow out" gracefully. Instead, they made a mess of it. Coach Les, as a prominent alumni and hardworking employee, definitely deserved better. The community also deserved better.

Agree. Several hard working loyal employees have been let go and probably not just in the sports department.

This situation was never going to be anything but messy. The fact that it came out before the MVC championship game was played assured that. And that's a shame for a guy who played at, graduated from and coached at this unveristy. He deserved better than that. Whether I agreed with his game time coaching decisions or not he was a great representative for this university and for this community. I hope whatever he does next in California will be less stressful and without every day scruntny.
