  • have you changed your mind?

after watching the exhibiton games and practice scrimmages has your outlook changed at all. are you more optimistic about what the upcoming season might bring or about the same or just taking a wait and see attitude.

I'm more optimistic, but I'm still worried about the minutes that Zach is not in there for. I think Zach is the key to this season. If he stays out of foul trouble we'll be ok, but I have yet to be impressed with Matt Salley. I know it's earlier and I hope Matt develops, but to me Zach's presence inside is the biggest key to the season.

I agree. Bradley lacks depth, and they can't afford for the key guys to have off nights, or foul trouble.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

I think Sam is the key, can he come back and stay healthy and what level will he play at. If he can stay healthy and be an impact player then we will be better than expected.

No. We beat 2 DII teams. It proved nothing good or bad.

I'll adjust my outlook and expectations (if necessary) after the non-conference schedule.

The 2 games were just exhibitions, but there are things you can glean from them. If there weren't, they wouldn't bother playing them. And the 2 teams we played were not pushovers. That helps the preparation for the regular season.

I think most observers have been pleasantly surprised by Daniel Ruffin's offense, and the play of Zach Andrews. Will and JJ have their roles and seem ready to fill them. Crouch seems to be in better shape physically and has played better defense. He will emerge as a key player this year, too. Salley will be a good player as he learns the offense and defense. The unknown factors are how much Danny Adams, Sam Singh, Saihou Jassey and Andrew Warren can help. The contributions of these 4 can make the difference between a mediocre season and a good season. We'll know more in another week or 2.

Another nice picture, thanks. I have not changed my mind. I would be really encouraged if we continued to play undersized teams with little quickness and athletic ability like we did in the two exibition games. Zak had his way with these two teams. We will see if he can play like that against bigger and quicker players. I think we will have a chance for a decent year if we get good minutes from Danny and Sam. We need both of them because of our lack of size and muscle. I was dissappointed in Salley as most of the time he did not look good enough to start on either DII team we played. Right now Zak is our only force around the basket so it will be important for Salley to get comfortable to DI ball quickly. I like our players, but our size is troublesome.
