  • Where Does Sammy Rank...

...among BU guards since 1990? I'd probably put him in the Top 10, along with these nine players. He's been a very nice player here.

    Warren
    Gilbert
    Dye
    Parker
    Stuckey
    Wright
    Ruffin
    Roberson
    Gillingham

Others in the mix (though I'd take Sammy over all of them, save maybe Will):

    J. Robinson
    Zobrist
    Crouch
    White
    Franklin
    Bennett
    Tauai

JC has to be on the list, I'd have him over Ruff for sure.

I'd have to put JC in the Top 10 easily. He only struggled his sophomore season, but had a very solid BU career. Will Franklin was Mr. Clutch for us his senior year, and had he been at BU for at least 1 more year, I'd put him in the Top 10. Truthfully, I didn't avidly start following BU hoops until 1993, so I don't know much about Stuckey other than being a prolific scorer.
Here is my Top 5, followed by next 5:

      Parker
      Crouch
      Warren
      Maniscalco
      Dye
      -----
      Stuckey
      Gilbert
      Ruffin
      Wright
      Robinson

In my opinion since 1996 -

        Tier 1

        Parker
        Crouch
        Gilbert
        Warren
        Dye

        Tier 2

        Robinson
        Maniscalco
        Ruffin
        Gillingham
        Franklin

        Tier 3

        Roberson
        Bennett
        Zobrist
        Simms-Edwards (will likely move up)
        B Wright

We've had some real good ones. Sammy is one 'em.

          Since 1990?

I think it's divided into two pretty cut and dried levels:

          1). Anthony Parker
          2). Rob Dye
          3). Phillip Gilbert
          4). Curtis Stuckey
          5). James Gillingham

          6). Jeremy Crouch
          7). Billy Wright
          8 ). Andrew Warren
          9). Jerome Robinson
          10). Sam Maniscalco

All of my first-tier guys were multi-time All-Valley. Billy Wright was 2nd team twice, and I firmly believe Maniscalco would've been first team next year...

Not a bad list...I think I could agree with your groups.

We have had some good ones.

Pretty good lists by all really....Parker is in a tier by himself IMO...and then all the rest.

                Two add'l thoughts:

                1. I'd put Roberson very high on the list because, as much as any BU guard since Hersey, he could change games. Difference is that he did it with his defense. Remember that win over SIU in 1996-97 when BU came back from a 17-point deficit with five minutes left. I recall Roberson stealing the ball from SIU on three straight possessions to key the rally.

                2. Charles White. Another great defender. Very underrated because he played on some very forgettable teams. A true Brave.
