Again -- it's pretty petty to lob insults when we have no clue what is actually happening...
As I said before, Sam's asking is more a formality to open the process and possibility of transferring. Personally, I want him to stay and my gut tells me he just may. However, I think we could potentially weather the upcoming year without him better than this past year.

How are we speculating? Tornado posted that Sam asked for his release. B4L was commenting on that. If you didn't want people commenting on it, then don't post it.

I took B4L's comment as a negative at first glance and I'd prefer if posters could find it in themselves for the time being stop commenting on the players all together. I've been pretty consistent with my feelings on this subject. Nothing good will happen with speculative circumstance around the players.

I think this is definitive enough, quotes directly from Bobby Parker.

                • Realistically, I won't be surprised if Sam leaves. But let's put ourselves in his shoes here for a minute:

You come to a school where you are very close with the coach for all four years. He is gone for your final year. You haven't met the new coach, so you're apprehensive. You have a unique situation (because you were a solid student) to go to grad school elsewhere, or at Bradley.

Why on Earth would you just "wait and see" for the new coach before doing ANYTHING? I'd be getting my ducks in a row, opening up options, and then waiting to meet the new coach. If you like him, do a masters here. If you don't? Bounce to one of ten schools who will take care of you there and also allow you to play ball.

No doubt if Les is here that Sammy stays and does a masters here, but that's not the case. Why not get some options, just in case? And doing it early (before the new coach) gets more schools to look at him. Sam is smart and hard-nosed as we have all said... But it's not just on the court. He is a smart personal overall and making sure he has good options.

Good luck on your decision process, Sam -- you deserve a fair shot anywhere!

Good post Jeff. Can't disagree. I am not happy Sam might leave, but as I have said all along, no need to badmouth him. Best of luck to him.

Agreed jeff! This is why I disagree with the people who posted here that a player does not seek options elsewhere and then come back. SM could still very well come back, but he can't wait until the new coach is hired to then start talking to teams. He's just pursuing all options which makes absolute sense. He does not have to commit to anyone else right now, but he has to start talking with teams or his options will dwindle in a hurry.
