Kansas State, under new head coach Bob Huggins played their first open exhibition against the Washburn Ichabods, a DII team,
and nearly got upset at home.
Washburn was annihilated by Kansas last Thursday, but they outplayed K-State in several aspects of the game, losing in TRIPLE OVERTIME to Bob Huggins' squad 94-90.
And reportedly the crowd was so dismayed that nearly half left the arena before the game was over!
The exhibition was billed as a sellout of 13,340, but reportedly only about 9,000 were there. Four K-State players went 39 minutes and more.
Also-future BU opponent, Michigan State finished their exhibition games with a 74-63 win over Northern Michigan (DII).
In Indiana's final exhibition (vs DII North Dakota), Lance Stemler came off the bench as was 4-6, 3-4 from 3-pt, and had 12 pts, 6 rebs. in 22 minutes.
The game was a 25 point blowout before halftime, though.
In other exhibition action...
SIU beat Henderson State 61-44, playing really good defense and starting the game with a 13-0 spurt. Henderson hung tough, though and was within 9 points in the final 10 minutes, but faded.
Oklahoma barely escaped Central Missouri 74-69
and nearly got upset at home.
