Just had a text from someone who spoke to SM and he said he wan't going to UIUC and he didn't start the rumer. That is, probably, the most reliable info we have had on this rumer from the source himself.

Plus, and this may just be me, but I don't know how reliable a text to a friend and another text to another friend and then a post on a message board is.

As far as I know there has not been one official statement regarding SM's future. All the "news" coming out has completely relied on heresay, so until MC and/or Bruce Weber say anything concrete, I can't believe anything I hear at this moment.
And I know what you mean with the UofI board, but when something like that seems to spread like wildfire there's usually a kernel of truth...it didn't just appear out of nowhere you know?

As far as rumors not appearing out of nowhere, well true, but that still doesn't make them accurate. Perhaps a "friend of a friend" of SM talked to this friend who was told by SM that he's weighing all of his options, and before you know it, the actual info was "compromised" by the time it hit the U of I boards. That's how these rumors usually end up so far from the truth in the first place.

#1- It's hardly been 48 hours. Let's calm down and breathe.
#2- Do you honestly think that SM will make a decision to leave BU without knowing who the next coach is?
#3- As SPF says, he's still a Brave.
#4- We are making a mockery of message boards by buying into a totally unsubstantiated rumor alledgely originating on another team's board.
In 2-3 weeks, all this rampant speculation and hearsay will look silly and over emotional. Lets not do or say things that a month from now we wish we hadn't written. Remember, these players do read this stuff.

I have to admit that comparing SM to Danny just drives me nuts.
SM after 4 years at the university may decide to transfer after obtaining his degree and after the coach that recruited him is fired.
The similarity is that the coach that originally recruited Danny was also fired. Danny decided to stay. After a number of discipline issues (eg not showing up for the bus headed to In State) he elected to quit on his team and depart mid season after "allegedly" being tampered with by an ex-player, assistant coach(s) from Bradley. Upon his departure he said a bunch of negative things about the University/Coach.
Yeah-I will cheer for SM wherever he plays (although I hope it is at Bradley) and sadly I will ALWAYS be a fan of whoever is playing against Danny Granger.
Both went through difficult situations. One did not handle it with much class while I have every confidence the other will.houstonbrave

What I said came straight from SM and the person he told he is very close to-kind of a grandpa figure-could be lieing about IL but doubt it-not SM style

When Danny elected to quit, he was not the only player considering leaving, several were, he was the only one that finally decided enough was enough. Any conversations with DB were after he already decided to leave and he had played his last game. Your comments make it seem that contact with DB was before he made his decision to leave and that it was his reason for leaving. You can choose to root against Danny every time he plays, but the bottom line is he left Bradley for what he saw as a better opportunity for him. If SM leaves in my eyes its the same thing, for a better opportunity. I'm still friends with Danny and I will continually root for him, and I will still root for Sam if he decides to leave.Go small or go home!

I was around him quite frequently as well as many others on that team and there were no other discipline issues.
