Why Didn't Les Talk to the Team

Why didn't Jim Les talk to his team after being fired? Is it because the school wouldn't allow it or was it his own doing? Prosser's quotes in yesterday's Journal Star stated that Les wasn't able or didn't talk to the team after being fired.

I'm just curious what happened and what usually happens after a collegiate coach is sacked.

Les talked to the team Saturday night. He was fired at 8 am Sunday- and he was told to stay away from campus and to turn in all keys. That's usually how firing works. I suppose it wouldn't prevent anyone from calling him, but he is persona non grata on campus.

Ok, so the Saturday night talk was probably the "I'm going to get fired" talk. That's reassuring. It sounded as if he didn't have that last moment with his team, and that would of been terribly sad.

You can take it to the bank. He is not allowed on campus and most likely has a gag order until the financial end is worked out. Even then we probably will never hear the whole story as part of the severence package. It's called a gag order.

A clearly stunned Balza forced an awkward smile and said as he exited Alico Arena and his meeting with second-year athletic director Ken Kavanagh, ???You??™ll have to ask him,??? when asked if he was fired by Kavanagh or if he resigned.

He addressed the team, as DC mentioned, Saturday night and also following the tournament game Friday.

He was aware of the decision.

Personally, the way the KK and JL firings have gone down have left a bad taste in my mouth.

Whether you wanted the guys gone or not, running them off campus like they're some sort of threat is absurd.

I understand laws and HR policy, but athletics is not a typical job and neither of these guys are any sort of threat to the campus.

Glad I could help, it's been a tough time for me too. Being born and raised in Peoria, it's tough seeing one of the heroes of the city fall like this.

Balza was given plenty of time and his contract was almost out anyway -- he knew the end was near....Ken simply gave him every chance and Balza didn't get-R-done..
As for JL to FGCU -- I think that's a bit premature......JL needs to be sure he doesn't do anything that would void his end of the agreement.....

Wow! That would stink if he wanted to come back and watch a few games next year!

So how long is he banned from campus? Until the contract issues are worked out? Or until a certain amount of time passes per the firing?
