Out of all of those, I like Tommy Amaker the most.

Nice article I found on Coach Gard. Seems like he would be a good get but I wonder if he thinks we would be a good fit?

Did a little more reading on Greg Gard. Looks like he made $183,000 last year so he should be obtainable.

why are we paying the reported $50,000 search consulting firm fee when we already have a list of top candidates already?

A nice list of candidates. Amaker is the most interesting of those guys to me. A good record everywhere he's been. Hinson is the other name that, to me at least, comes without a significant concern. Gard and lusk may be great but hard for me to tell since they've only been assistants. Cooley and Johnston sound like good coaches but have no ties to the midwest and so could struggle with recruiting... Giacoletti had only been exceptionally good when he inherited bogut from majerus. So I'm a little worried about his history as a head coach. Howard is an interesting option discussed at length here already... He's a high risk guy with potentially high reward. The rest of those guys don't do a whole lot for me.

                    Muller
                    Lusk
                    Gard
                    Amaker

All good candidates, but where is Montgomery at? Anyone from the Izzo tree would probably be a good get...

That said, why do I get the feeling that it's going to be someone not from this list or even close to it?

Oh, and reason I didn't mention Cooley or Johnson is because I feel the coach needs some ties to the Midwest

I've always like Barry Hinson. I've liked his up-tempo play as coach of the Bears and his emphasis on being one of the best rebounding teams in the Valley. Not too sure about his recruiting, but I don't think he's that bad.
He seems to get classy young men, much like Coach Les did. He seems to go about his business the right way too. Add that to competing for a Valley championship, and I'd be happy.
I thought he did a nice job at MSU.
I'd say that Barry and Tommy are the safe bets and we'll be pretty good with either one.

As I stated on another thread, KW's list can be easily winnowed down to three candidates.

                        In no certain order

                        Tommy Amaker
                        Greg Gard
                        Rodney Terry

also... doesn't Michigan State have a highly regarded assistant? If so, I would include that person.

edit: make that 4... I just saw Paul Lusk on the list.

Don't be too quick to eliminate Sydney Johnson.

Disagree with Hinson. We do not need a recycled MVC coach with our next hire! We need to go big and COMMIT!

What about Wayne McClain? Wasn't he short-listed last time and maybe eliminated since he didn't have collegiate experience? Now he's the Assoc Head Coach at U of I, seems like a good fit at BU now.
