Like it or not, he should! I know I would want the option wide open to bring in my guys.

Can anyone point to any specifics as to how this coaching change was handled any differently than when Coach Mo was let go by BU?

Other than the emotional issue of JL's heroic status among BU fans vs Mo's?

In an age of cell, text, tweet, facebook, twitter, anonymous leaks, instant usage of the media to further one's position, I imagine things are somewhat different than 9 years ago when trying to manage key personnel changes. Would guess legal aspects of such changes have also evolved making these things even more difficult to manage.

I think people are trying to make mountains out of mole hills and should let the process play out. Sometime early next fall is the time to reflect on the change and the affect on the program. Right now, its just rabble rousing.

Whether you were for or against the firing of Les, one good thing has come of this situation:

There is a more open discussion of the (justified) reasons for the ever-increasing resentment towards the administration.

While posts on here are not in great detail, I am glad that people who care about the University are getting at least a taste of the inner-workings at the school. Since all most people hear about is the end, I'm glad that this ordeal has enlightened some of the means to the end. That way more people can make up their minds about whether or not the end is justified.

Sometime early next fall is the time to reflect on the change and the affect on the program. Right now, its just rabble rousing.

Personally, I would say the fall of 2013 or 2014 is when true reflection on the change and affect on the program can begin. The rhetoric we heard with JL was 'give him time, let him get his own players' etc. Some natives started to get restless, but those who said 'wait' were proven right, and in year 4 we started getting some results. People lose all credibility if they don't give this next guy the same time to put his mark on the program.

As far as how the university works right now, most people won't care if we start winning basketball games. There were a lot of people that didn't care for the way Ken Kavanagh micromanaged people in his department either. I liked Ken a lot, but that's a reputation he had. At the end of the day, it's a business. I don't know anyone who hasn't come across someone in their line of work that they didn't agree with philosophically or didn't see eye to eye with. It happens. At the end of the day it's about results. If the style that's prevalent now ends up yielding great results, there won't be much to complain about. If it doesn't, the resentment will increase tenfold.

I am sure many of our posters know people whose lives have been affected by administration decisions. Changes made just for the sake of change. Changes made to bring in new personnel, some who were personal friends. Alot of the posters are smart enough to know when someone got the shaft. And I am not talking of changes just made in the athletic dept.

So Cross took all the responsibility for this so when his "new coach" sucks....he is the one who takes the blame and goes back to the east coast.
