Will was fouling too much and was unsure how to carry the load offensively. Problem was fixed. Prosser thrown into the fire a bit too early out of necessity and his struggles on both ends. He worked his way out of it. Various games during the streak where other players were unavailable or limited. DSE went through a lull where he lacked confidence, that evaporated. All of those pretty much happened at once. You could look at them as reasons or as excuses, depending on your opinion of Jim Les.

I'm not saying we should sign him for another 5 years, but I do believe that the way he led the team out of it should allow him to have another year at full strength to be able to give him a chance to prove people right or wrong on his terms, with a full team he created.
    Well said!

    • I haven't read this whole thread, but I really like how two people have no opinion. Why vote?

They obviously don't care one way or the other, and feel that no matter who is here that we will do better next year.

Or they just hit the wrong button!

As far as seasoned bench I'm hoping that AT comes back bigger and better, and that Walt will improve. Milos or Eastman will probably start on the bench so I'm hoping these 3 can give us a good 8-man rotation. Throw in AD (if he returns) and hope that one or two newcomers provide a pleasant surprise (Harris or Abel?) and I think we have the makings of a pretty good team. Sorry you see it different.
I just don't know how you could expect those two guys to improve as much as it would take to become an actual threat.

Bradley didn't have a single guard with a shooting percentage over 45% from the field, and among the returning players, Sammy had the best percentage from 3 at 33%.

          • The year before Jeremy shot 50% he had a 3FG% of 24%.

Why not put in lots of off season work and make it happen?

Those guys can put in all the work in the world and never be as good of a player as Jeremy Crouch. They just are not as talented.

Regarding JC, he did have a bad sophomore year shooting-wise. But the year before that he was 37% from 3. I believe the coaching staff was working with him on altering his shot so he could get it off quicker his sophomore year. Their tinkering paid off big time, as he led the nation in 3 point shooting his junior year, and shot at a 40% clip his senior year.
              Onward and Upward!

              • I wanted a change but the way we played the last few games and how well the team stayed together has made me change my vote. I hope he gets another year, however we shouldn't accept anything less than a third place finish.

I agree. But one can always dream.

Most forget that JC had a real bad "sophomore slump" hitting only 15-- 3's taking 62 for 24% and scoring 102 pts.....dedicated himself the following summer to become the best player he could be and setting the school record with 262-- 3's!

Agreed. We're due for a guy to have a Jerome Robinson-type ascension to greatness.

                      • I think JC's sophomore slump also may have had a little to do with his weight room work throwing off his shot.

                        • I hope the administration has planned for all contingencies and will be proactive in whatever they decide and not mull this over. They either stand behind JL 100% or already have another coach in mind that they know they can grab that can possibly keep the team intact with the new recruits. Any other outcome will be a travesty to the fans and University.

Next year we will need someone else to step up besides SM behind the arc. DSE needs to continue attacking the rim so I do not see him as a viable continuous 3 point threat. I can see MK become a viable person coming off the bench. Can TB be that other guy?

That's another question that would be nice to know the answer...when does TB get his final exam and outcome his future...last I read was 2 weeks after the season?

It was stated a while back that if AW & DD had not been injured last year, we would not have them this year. Give us SM & TB and take away AW & DD, and where would we be? It's a real shame that Bradley Basketball has fallen so much that a 3rd place finish is acceptable. Bring back the "good old days" when the MVC was respected and we expected a 1st or 2nd place finish. We will be lucky if Wichita State or Missouri State get an At Large bid.
