No. It has to be set up as an open poll from the start.

Originally posted by Da Coach View PostWell, I gotta say it... it looks like the overwhelming majority of fans (almost 80%) here favor retaining Jim another year. We have had the fire-JL people telling us all year that it is the other way around, and that the majority of fans want him fired.
As a side note- there are hundreds of fans down here in St. Louis, including quite a lot of the "blue-hairs". I suspect most if not nearly all of these fans here in St. Louis do not have a laptop with them to vote in this poll. That means, in my estimation, that most people voting are the out-of-area fans, and the people who did not come to St. Louis. I have talked to numerous people down here, and I have not met anyone yet who wants Jim fired. So I believe that if these fans were added to the poll, it would be far more lopsided. The older fans don't tend to have computers or visit our site in great numbers anyway, and the huge majority of those older fans strongly support Jim Les.
So what I am saying, and others are free to disagree and I am sure there will be some who do, is that if this poll has any bias, IMO the bias strongly favors the fans who want Jim Les fired, since they tend to shout louder than the rest of us, and are more likely to stay home and not come to St. Louis. Even if you add a couple votes for the obnoxious, repeated rules-violating ones we have banned, it doesn't come close to equalling the hundreds of others who are down here in St. Louis and can't participate in the poll. I predict that by tomowwow, this poll will even more strongly favor retaining Jim, when those fans get home and vote. Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

Old Coach - The JL sentiments have been picked over more cleanly then a dead squirrel on an Alabama back road during the middle of summer. The vast majority of us have very little sway on what will happen."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

I am another one here in Stl and voted.
The one complaint I have about last night was the lack of fan enthusiasm but blame part of that on the music the band played. I heard several say the music wasn't conducive to getting the crowd fired up and it didn't except a few times. A couple of times the cheerleaders didn't even get into the music. Then check out WSt and see how their fans respond to the music their band plays. They were constantly on their feet.
I have no idea who is responsible but something has to change to get the fans fired up which in return should help get the team fired up.

So the vast majority think Les is coming back. That doesn't mean the vast majority thinks Les should stay. I saw DC's post first and thought the poll was a different question.

But Dr. V isn't to blame, he's outlasted all the BU coaches since Versace
And talking about getting fans fired up is difficult when only about 20 fans were around the band while WSU had all of their fans around, behind and very close to their band.

My vote doesn't mean that I have unabashed support for JL...because I don't. However, I am a realist, and expect him to get another opportunity next season.

I think I'm going to run for public office. I can't make a decision. I can see both sides. I hate to see anyone lose their job but I can't see spinning our wheels and the car isn't going anywhere. Did Jim get dealt a bad hand this year with injuries? Yes he did but we were still pre season picks for 4th place and thats not good enough for being our head man 9 years. Would we have finished better then 4th? We will never know but as I sit here watching this tourney, we are not close to finishing with the elite in our conference if there is any elite. We have made some very poor decisions on who we have recruited and thats Jims fault pure and simple. I can live with one more year but it better be a good one .Nothing less then 1 or 2 in the conference, has to play on Sunday and either NCAA or NIT. Anything less and we thank Jim and all move on. Still glad I don't have to make the decision.

I voted that he'll be back, its just what I see happening. I don't want him back. But, after the improvement in the last few weeks and the team finally playing together and winning a few games I am not calling for his head either. (though the isu sweep was tough to take)
I don't see them buying him out now, and neither do I really care at this point. I just want us to win a lot more games next year, and hopefully nobody gets hurt. If he is the coach and gets it done, great, congrats. If not, and we win, thats great too, I'm still happy.
