  • Andrew Warren - A man changed(me or him?)

I was critical of Warren, throughout his career. I was not one who repeatedly called him 'soft' like some, but I did find him to be selfish and the type of player who was more concerned with 'getting his' than winning. I'm not here to say I was wrong when I said it, I'm not sure I was. But I am here to say that I don't think that that's who he is today. His play the last couple games was the definition of team ball. Last night I saw him, while hot, defer to DSE because DSE was hotter. On senior night it was apparent once we got the lead that he knew it was not only his night, but Dodie's as well. Through the late season MVC games Warren looked like he finally got it, that he needed to hustle all game, that sometimes the shot wasn't his, but sometimes he needed to take the team on his back and deliver.

Like I said, I'm not saying I was wrong before, but that what I thought doesn't hold true now, and that remembering that these are young men in the stage of their life where they grow the most is important. I hope that for AW's sake he and the team get to go further and would love if they played on into Saturday, Sunday and beyond.

I don't know if it was the work with his trainer in Indy but the man has been possessed all year long and I don't care what they say, he was the PoY!

I don't recall Weems getting double or triple teamed...

Andrew has been outstanding not only in still creating various ways to score but being a man on the boards...

He I feel has earned a legit look from NBA scouts

I was somewhat critical of Warren as well, however it was related to his ability. I did not think he had the talent to be "the man". I know he has proven me wrong in that regard. He not only has stepped up his aggression, leadership, and confidence but has also shown more talent than I thought he really had.

Let's remember that these are kids and a lot of the maturation process of any kid typically leads to increased confidence and leadership. I would contend that AW has done a lot of growing up and maturing in the face of the adversity that he and the team have gone through.

Now, AW "is who we thought he was".

I also was very hard on Warren especially last season.

He took terrible shots, was not working or playing hard on defense. His shot selection and play hurt his team last season.

He has reinvented his game and was the best player in the MVC this season, period.

I dont apologize but I do want to recognize that Warren put his mind to being a leader and did exactly what he put his mind too. I for one applaud Warren on reinventing his game and well being one of the best overall players in the country this season.

I completely agree! What a pleasure it's been to watch AW as he's running around on offense trying to get open, working one-on-one with the ball and either shooting right over someone or driving into the lane for a pull-up jumper, and working very hard on defense!

              Shaun,
I was wondering if it would be possible to calculate AW's Prouty number for his senior night performance ?
