I lot of deadwood in the student section though, they wouldnt stand much on my side, I was often the only one. I would have given them hell, but it was just an exhibition game, and I think the freshman group might lead with me, as I saw some good enthusiasm from the row in front of me, but they need to work on there knowledge of the game.
One thing that bothers me, could someone get the people who sit across from the student section to act less like zombies when the other team shoots free throws? no noise, no standing, no motion. pathetic
There were a lot of students there today for an early Saturday game!
I know the university won't officially support this, but I want some sort of informal pre-game drinking session to get the students rowdy and fired up. I know the Chefs Club (I refuse to call it the 'Braves' Club, it's the non-hostile 'Chefs' to me...cooking up a win) will have the substances flowing, which is where I may be, but the students need an informal place to get ready for the game. Marketing...take note...
Heres how the week is going to go......Bradley signs all four players to LOIs capping off one of its best recruiting classes of all time. On Saturday the Civic Center is sold out and the Sweet Sixteen banner is raised to the rafters. Then the braves picked to do nothing this year beat DePaul by a score of 83 to 78. You heard it here first!!!!!
Hey I hope your right.......this years team is fun to watch and when they play like the coach's want....they will be good.......barring injuries this team will finish above all the predicted 7th and 8th slots!
Anybody notice how obscure the editor got with his effort to get a pun in the title of today's Bradley article in the PJ Star?
"Bradley goes north, by Northwest Missouri St."
sometimes even the copy editiors have a bad day!
That is pretty bad. But the worst one I have ever read sticks in my mind from several years ago. Wichita State had a player named Maurice Evans, who was pretty good. After he helped WSU to a win in Peoria, the headline was
"Some people call me Maurice, some people call me the gangster of hoop".
from a flipped line in the song "The Joker" by the Steve Miller Band:
Is there anyone left who still wonders why JJ Tauai is important to Bradley?
Did you all see who started this game?
It was a lineup of Ruffin, Will, Crouch, Zach, and Salley.
Not a bad lineup, but right away I was wondering why JL wasn't going with JJ at the start.
JJ Tauai started the game on the bench.
At 15:30 when JJ came to the scorer's table to enter the game, BU was already down 12-2, and from there BU outscored NWMS 88-47. Call it coincidence if you want, but JL realized what he needed to do to turn the game around, and at 15:30 he did it.
Whattya wanna bet Jim Les puts JJ back into the starting lineup next Saturday?
Nobody is a bigger JJ fan than me,
but I am not sure how things would have been any different with him starting. They got good shots, and they just weren't falling. Would JJ have been able to make those shots go in?
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."
And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."
JJ needs to start looking to take some shots because the other teams will just sag off him and double the shooters..........he needs to look to score this year!
