If you're going to fire an alum, with all the positives he brings, do it after a season where there is no doubt about his ability to contend. My opinion.

Listen... doo wa doo, do ya wanna know a secret... do wa doo. Let me whisper in your ear. Woah woah oh closer...
I have also hear a rumor that decision has already been made, but with less than an hour before tip off, I think we should be showing our support for our boys' underdog shot at going 4-0 over the next four days and saying the decision will be made Monday. What if we go 4-0? The season's not over monday... just saying.
GO BRAVES! BEAT THE DOGS AGAIN!... At the end, of the storm, there's a golden sky. And the sweet silver song of the lark. Walk on, through the wind, walk on, through the rain, though your dreams be tossed, and blown. Walk on, Walk on with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone!
I'm behind you 100% Bradley Braves, You'll Never Walk Alone! BEAT STATE!

The sentimental, compassionate side of me that loves what JL represents for BU fans of my generation (grown up during the 80's) wants to see him get another shot with a full roster.
The practical side of me that saw us lose to horrific teams at home (ISU, EIU) and sees way too many empty seats and even more apathy from the masses says it's time to go.
I'm easily persuaded one more year, but I gotta admit I'm kind of excited about seeing who we can bring in here to turn this thing around.
I do know this, JL has busted his balls trying to make this happen and this kills him. But it's an uncompassionate business this college basketball. It's what he signed up for.

This article has the content that the first two lacked (the no comment by Glasser and Cross as well as statistics); this should have been his first article written instead of the third. But this also now proves to me that Wessler was full of cr@p in his first two articles where he said with certainty that Les was done; this article is a direct contradiction to that.
I also am convinced that this is Wessler's "swan song". He knows he's done at the PJS (retirement or buyout) and doing everything in his power to pile on and put pressure on the BU Administration to fire Les. This should not have been written today! It is highly inappropriate, IMO. This is game day and the PJS should be focusing on what is relevant. If we lose tonight then this article would have been appropriate for tomorrow, but not today.
I hope someone at the PJS or in a letter to the editor calls Wessler on the carpet on his definitive "20 days" statement and assumptions regarding Les. I think Les will be retained and this brand of "red journalism" needs to be exposed for what it is.
I agree that Wessler actually used some stats to back up his opinions, which is all I ask for someone who gives his opinions for a living. And even though I still disagreed with about 98% of this column, at least he showed how he formulated his opinions, even if this is just all a rehash from before.
Having said that though, the timing of this column reeks of more disdain for Les by Wessler. AND regarding his point about lauching Les even if BU somehow wins this tournament in St. Louis, well you never, ever, EVER fire a coach that makes the NCAA Tournament, even with an under .500 record!
I do see somewhat where Wessler is coming from regarding the lack of focus and discipline (don't agree with lack of effort since Les's teams have always shown great effort) even with injuries. This was one of my gripes against the team earlier in the season during the 11 game losing streak, basically why it took so long for the team to gel. But even a few more wins would have not changed the complexion of the season that much, and Wessler would have basically published the same column anyway! And even an above .500 season would not have changed KW's mind about Les, someone he never wanted here in the first place.
Now if KW actually gets booted after this season, I would be shocked as I have not heard any indication that he's going anywhere either. But that would be a great first step for the PJ Star!

didn't he strongly CONDEMN many of Bradley's fans and much of the city for having an opinion about who should or shouldn't be head coach when JL was selected??
Kirk definitely has changed his tune -- and seems to not only be backing off his prior statements, but is now positioning himself so that if Les is NOT fired, he can say that -- well, he really never said that Les would.
But -- that's untrue -- Kirk plainly stated he had sources (more than one) who said Les was gone and he even gave a timetable of "fewer than 20 days" (stated on the 15th of Feb...meaning that according to his timetable, his dream come true will happen on Monday.)
If not, then I think we can put this one in the overloaded barrel of other things he's said that are wrong or have been proven false such as JW verbaling to Iowa State, the misconception about what an offensive rebound is, that Peoria en masse are racists and were bigoted towards WM, that Bradley never discussed nor revealed their expansion plans, etc, etc..
Now he can say he "never said he wanted Les fired". Never mind that within the context of this same article he implied that Les should be gone EVEN if the Braves win the Valley Tournament! Can you believe this guy?! Like I said above, how can you fire a coach who gets the team to the Big Dance, even with an under .500 record. Any coach that can win their conference tournament shows that they not only can coach, but they have a good team even if the record doesn't show it.

The stupidest thing about this article is that it said if we win 4 straight in St. Louis, which would mean an NCAA tourny bid, that should not affect the decision........
Maybe the decision has already been made like some say, but if it has I think that would have to be a good sign he will be back. Because if we actually do win Arch Madness, and the decision was to get rid of him, are they still going to can him? So I don't know how a decision could already be made unless it is to keep him. I don't know anything though because I don't even live in Peoria.

He even says he is a BU fan-sure can't stand JL though. Never writes anything positive about the players either so why write anything nice about him.
