Another JL stalker column by KW "reminds" us that either JL will gone from Bradley or KW will be gone from the PJS after the MVC tournament concludes.

The only good time for an article is when that information is relavant and important at that moment. Sorry but the timeing of this article is perfect.
I agree on all points, statistics never lie.

Completely disagree houston. This article and several confirm that kirk has an axe to grind for whatever reason. That's his prerogative I guess, but can't exactly say I agree with the papers editorial choices here. I have already decided based on or late season turn around that another season for Les is in the best interests of the program, if I felt the other way, as a supporter of the team I still wouldn't agree with this because it's inappropriately timed. There's a big game for the braves today and I'll continue supporting the team until the season is done, and I believe any supporter should do the same. Just my opinion.

I didn't have a problem with the article either, Dave wrote about the game and Kirk gave his opinion about the direction of the program.

I've been hearing more things from people much, much closer to the program than me that seem to slide in one direction but I still can see both sides...

I must admit that I defended Wessler's timing of his first two articles; I had no problem with that, only the content (which was lacking tremendously).

This article has the content that the first two lacked (the no comment by Glasser and Cross as well as statistics); this should have been his first article written instead of the third. But this also now proves to me that Wessler was full of cr@p in his first two articles where he said with certainty that Les was done; this article is a direct contradiction to that.

I also am convinced that this is Wessler's "swan song". He knows he's done at the PJS (retirement or buyout) and doing everything in his power to pile on and put pressure on the BU Administration to fire Les. This should not have been written today! It is highly inappropriate, IMO. This is game day and the PJS should be focusing on what is relevant. If we lose tonight then this article would have been appropriate for tomorrow, but not today.

I hope someone at the PJS or in a letter to the editor calls Wessler on the carpet on his definitive "20 days" statement and assumptions regarding Les. I think Les will be retained and this brand of "red journalism" needs to be exposed for what it is.

And I'll continue to support the team as well after the season regardless of the decision

                Kirk Wessler Article

An excellent article by KW which does a great job of pulling everything together regarding our current situation---Right on the button!

If Bradley Basketball is ever going going to get out of its current rut of mediocrity and become successful on a conference, regional, and national level once again with a program we can all be proud of, we must have a change no matter how difficult or painful this might be.

I wish Kirk would quit beating around the bush and actually tell us how he feels....
didn't he strongly CONDEMN many of Bradley's fans and much of the city for having an opinion about who should or shouldn't be head coach when JL was selected??

Kirk definitely has changed his tune -- and seems to not only be backing off his prior statements, but is now positioning himself so that if Les is NOT fired, he can say that -- well, he really never said that Les would.
But -- that's untrue -- Kirk plainly stated he had sources (more than one) who said Les was gone and he even gave a timetable of "fewer than 20 days" (stated on the 15th of Feb...meaning that according to his timetable, his dream come true will happen on Monday.)
If not, then I think we can put this one in the overloaded barrel of other things he's said that are wrong or have been proven false such as JW verbaling to Iowa State, the misconception about what an offensive rebound is, that Peoria en masse are racists and were bigoted towards WM, that Bradley never discussed nor revealed their expansion plans, etc, etc..

This was a pre-emptive strike, pure and simple, just in case the Braves would win a game, or two, or three ...

Forget the bones he tossed out there about injuries, graduation rate, etc.

I agree to some extent with the article, but agree whole-heartedly with you that the timing of this is terrible. Oh well, Jimmy and the boys will play hard regardless.

Secondly, The paper is not a propoganda arm of Bradley University. The respondsiblity for Wessler is to write on topics that are relavant when he writes them. Interest is highest in Bradley basketball during the season and I would not be surprised it is at its most highest at the time of the MVC tournament. Waiting to write about a relavant subject a week after the season ends makes no sense.

It also makes no sense to hold off on an article to let anyone prepare for anything. Les is a big boy and he gets paid big boy money to deal with "distractions" along with getting his team prepared to play basketball. It is not Wessler or Reynolds or the papers job to go soft on Les just because they are getting ready for a game. That is absolutely irrelavant.

He is the face of this program and it is part of his job to answer questions, yes even the hard ones and often at times not timely for his or the teams liking. He does not have to answer anything or he can answer its his call but if there is something that the writers feels needs to be address it is not important what Les is trying to do.

What he has 2 people that write anything about his program on a regular basis and maybe 3 TV people who cover his program and those 3 will not ask anything hard. To me Jim Les actually has it very easy when it comes to having to answer anything difficult or distracting. Do you seriously think a good reporter gives a rats ***s if what they are asking is a distraction?

The only good time for an article is when that information is relavant and important at that moment. Sorry but the timeing of this article is perfect.
I have to agree with you on this one.

The column gave you the actual numbers(facts) of Les' resume. Then it gave you the part where it mentions the unholy amount of injuries BU has had to deal with.

Then, KW, gave his opinion...which is what everyone of us does on here everyday.

I would think we will know about Les' future in the next 7 days, one way or the other.

That all said....Go BU, and let's have a great (and Full) weekend of basketball.

As we all know, President Glasser and AD Cross will make their decision or have already made their decision. Whatever we, or the PJStar, think will not matter.

                              Go BU

Why does everyone get so fired up about the "timing" of this article? The current coaching situation is the proverbial white elephant in the room. It's not like every player or fan doesn't know what's being discussed. There's going to be a major decision made in a few days one way or the other. Who knows, maybe the boys will use it for some inspiration.
