  • Top 20 Basketball Announcers

Somehow Frank Bussone never made the list.

Nor did any announcer outside of those connected with the ACC, SEC, or ESPN.

Well, Dan McLaughlin is mostly Fox Sports doing MVC.

The only one I don't really like on their list is Gus Johnson....I know everyone loves his energy, but his screaming makes me sick.

I have to disagree with you here JD. Gus is in my top 5 on this list.
Some of these guys are so boring to listen to - Jim Nantz, Dick Enberg, Vern Lundquist (I think he did the BU-Pitt game in '06 where he called POB "Patrick O' Rourke".

I enjoy listening to Brent Mussberger for football more than basketball.
        Can't stand Bobby Knight.

Jimmy Dykes is probably my favorite - he gives really good insight, knows the players on the court from top to bottom, and adds some pizazz. Maybe it's because I remember listening to him on ESPN for many Valley games, especially Arch Madness. I like Stephen Bardo also, as he has come a long way to becoming a good broadcaster/analyst.

What a joke of a list! All announcers from ESPN and CBS except for McLaughlin, and even he does some games for ESPN. Good to see him on there, but this list is so bogus it's not even funny!

I like Gus Johnson very much as an announcer, but my favorite announcer in recent years has been Bill Raftery. My all time favorite college basketball announcer is Al Mcguire. IMHO, there hasn't been a better announcer than Al.
            Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

As a Cards fan I cannot stand McLaughlin. He talks the whole time mostly about nonsense. I remember a few years back their was a study done and outside of Vin Scully who broadcasts by himself, Dan ranked #1 as most talkative announcer and way above #2. He doesn't do Blues games anymore, and is having his Cardinals games cut by a third.

                1. I hate lists where you have to click 20 times to see 20 names, I refuse to do it.

                2. I love Frank Bussone's work.
