Weems is indeed a great player -- I'd love to have him....
I can recall when he was first recruited by Barry Hinson, there were doubts about how good he was going to be. He was fairly obscure, just 2-Star rated......He was thin and weak and chose to redshirt his first year at Missouri State -- even though he came to MSU with his best friend and high school teammate Lamont Austin.....who didn't redshirt, and planned to play right away.
But Austin had issues and got injured, fell into Barry's doghouse, and got booted halfway thru his freshman year reportedly for issues off the court...
Here's the original discussion we had on BradleyFans -- but note how good of a spotter of future talent Barry Hinson clearly is...
He knew something about Weems while virtually NOBODY else did...

Coach Woodberry actually coached the KC Pump N Run AAU team that Kyle and Lamont played for right before he took the job at Missouri State. He was the main recruiter and Barry actually never met or watched Kyle or Lamont until the day they visited...which happened to be the same day they committed. I was in the booster tent talking to one of the current players and I made the comment that Barry must have really liked those two and the player responded "he has never seen them play they are Woods guys". The really funny part is the player made it sound like they grabbed Weems just to get Austin.
Austin was involved in stealing some camera equipment and left. Ended up at juco and now Morehead St.
