Preps to Sammy Maniscalco's old AAU teammate Demetri McCamey who is only the 2nd Big Ten player EVER to reach the 1600 career points + 700 career assists levels...

BUT -- guess what -- it IS possible that Sammy himself could reach the 1600 part but not very likely he'd hit the 700 assists
He is 390 points shy and he's scored over 400 each of his past two seasons,
but the hard part is that he'd need 345 assists - to get to 700...
DRuff came close with 1280 pts, 644 assists, and Anthony Manuel had 1221 points and 855 assists...Jim Les had 696 assists with BU, and 884 overall to go with 1147 points....and his senior season at BU, Jim had an astounding 275 assists to go with only 66 turnovers!!! (A/T= 4.2)

BTW -- isn't it time we got the talk started of retiring Jim Les' number or honoring him as a player in some way?

Does he meet the criteria of number retirement?

Isn't he already in the Hall of Fame?

If Illinois does not make the tourny this year, Demetri will have missed the tournament 3 of his 4 years and won zero tournament games. That's not good at a major power like Illinois. It's obviously not all him, but his leadership hasn't been great over the years. Individual numbers wise he is a great Illini, but I'm not sure just how great he is.
