Some brought him up on ESPN radio the other day for a different job. The consensus was that he was a great recruiter, for Illinois. However, he isn't close to being IL's top assistant.
Even bigger, if he goes somewhere smaller, the recruiting will get much harder.

Dave Reynolds job is to write articles to inform the public on what they want to hear with facts (or what he thinks the public wants to hear). With this piece, he is showing the viewing public that he asked the questions that they want answers to.
His secondary job is the get readers to the PJ Star. Some may view it as slimy or unethical, but facts are facts- contraversy attracks readers. Looks at this thread alone. Over 2,500 views. Those views of this thread lead to hits on the PJ Star's website. Hits=ad $$ to the paper.
Dave is making his bosses happy...

I would say that this is how it works. Think about how we got in this financial mess. Same mentality, different business. That's the world we live in unfortunately.

I would say that is true, although is anyone claiming the article is not accurate?
Great post but there are a few that would rather have wins then great young men that graduate.
Ohhhh, really?! Are you telling me you would rather have drug addicts, rapists and/or wife beaters on our team as long as they can win?
Maybe that's not quite what you meant literally, but isn't that what college is all about, graduating students in no matter what field they choose? Remember, most mid-major basketball players play for the love of the game. Only a few are legitimate pro prospects. The players who have no desire for a degree should go and play for one of the elite programs or just go pro immediately out of high school. What good do these players do for us? Maybe they can get us to the tourmament once in a while as POB did, but you can't build a team around a player like that if they are only going to stay for a year or so? Besides, those type of players are a dime a dozen in mid-major basketball.
But back to the original point. I will not sell out my university in order to pursuade the athletic department to recruit athletes who have no desire to earn a degree. And I would rather the team go winless than to have a John Calipari or Kelvin Sampson type come in here and recruit thugs who may be talented but can damage the reputation of a university faster than a bad record on the court can!

Thanks to the current CBA, the top players have to bite time either in college (one or two years) or play overseas (ala Brandon Jennings) in order to declare for the NBA draft. I know that it was instituted so the league would not water down, but it's up to the person themselves (or a trainer) if they need to develop a little more before declaring or just jump right in.
At Bradley, it's a lot like a family. I don't expect to watch players become lottery picks in the NBA. All I really expect from them is to play to their potential, and if all the chips fall in the right place they can celebrate a win.
And maybe, just maybe, win the play-in game against Drake.
