Seen stranger, premeditated things at sporting events. Clearly this poor sap just got caught up in the game.

The Ville got the W...not a big deal.

    Agreed...

I like how the monday morning QB's always have the "common sense" to say...:how could someone be so stoopid to do that. Its called emotions....the cheerleader thought the game was over.

Its like the Bartman foul ball and all those that claimed they would have never tried to catch the ball coming straight for their head...yeah right.

I don't think so....the smart, logical, proper, and even sportsmanlike thing to do was to dribble out the final 1-2 seconds -- as there really wasn't anyone close to even foul him.
As shown -- had he done this, the game will be won 100% of the time...
By shooting - even dunking - you just never know as you are giving up possession and the refs might have even called a "T" for hanging on the rim or excessive celebration -- we have all seen it happen...thus a win is no longer 100%...the probability drops to something less than 100% and thus it is NOT a smart play.
Even if there were a guy close to foul, you'd still want to play keep-away and let the clock run -- even shooting FT's with a second or two left and a 3-pt lead opens the door to the possibility of a loss as we can readily show in the Jimmy to Hersey pass in 1986 that beat Drake with only a few tenths of a second on the clock.

Despite the win by Louisville -- there was bad news...one of Louisville's best players, Rakeem Buckles (7.2 ppg/6.5 rpg/40% 3-pt shooter),
tore his ACL during the game and will miss the remainder of the season and post-season...
