  • Pre-season Predictions - Revisited

Name one prediction you made at the beginning of the season that came true, and one that didn't. Focus on any specific player or team, but the one non-acceptable answer is "I picked Bradley higher." Yes, we know. We all did.

I was right in predicting that the most disappointing player in the Valley would be Jackie Carmichael. I said that his lack of an offensive game and rumors of a horrible work ethic would catch up with him, leaving ISU fans looking for other answers (although if you only saw him play against Bradley, you would think he played that well every game. He didn't. Not even close for the most part).

I was wrong in predicting Drake as the "surprise team in the Valley." I figured their bench depth combined with their length (they play 5 players over 6'7) would cause match-up nightmares all over the floor. Apparently when I predicted Drake, I forgot about Indiana St

I thought Kenny Lawson would be a lot better player.

I also said BU would go 5-13 in the league and missed that by a game.

      I assume you're talking Valley --
one thing I knew for sure was that those who voted Andrew Warren as only Hon Mention All Valley were underestimating him..

Other than that -- three of the 1st Team picks won't be there on the post-season 1st Team (Sammy, Toure Murry, and Kenny Lawson)
I also think three of the Honorable Mention guys also will be left off the 1st & 2nd etams... Van Deest, Loenard, & TB...so that's literally half of the preseason player picks that they will have missed on although I know they didn't and couldn't have known of Sammy's and TB's redshirts.

As far as something I thought -- I knew the instant we found out that BOTH Sammy & TB were lost that it would be a struggle and we'd finish well out of the race..
but something else I also knew and predicted with 100% precision - much ot the anger and dismay of the Redbird fans...
I have been saying for three years that once Jank loses Osiris Eldridge and the other D-I players Porter Moser had landed...that he'd drop off -- and it wouldn't just be a little drop off.....I quite solidly picked them for way at the bottom due to lack of scorers....and I have been saying the same for SIU & Chris Lowery for the past couple years.....Almost EVERYONE has been surprised by how BADLY SIU has done the past few years and how really badly ISU did this year despite those teams being mostly HEALTHY all season....but I think the evidence was there all along that it was going to happen.
As for Bradley's bad performance this year -- rub it in all you want haters and ISU fans, but this year was an aberration caused by the unexpected loss of two All Valley players both of whom would have been in the running for Valley POY......but unlike how bad SIU and ISU have done with their best players on the floor at all times, Bradley has every reason to anticipate a FAR better season next year!

I thought Wichita State would run away with the league title.

Once I found out TB was out for the year so did I.....I thought they had a chance to get into the top 25.

I also thought WSU would win the title. Didn't see MSU,ISU blue and Evansville finishing where they did. If SM and TB are back next year I see us in the hunt. Lets get some W's in St L. go Braves.
