  • Valley title on the line

If you have comcast, turn into channel 31. Great game great atmosphere. Wish we could have that here. We are so far from those two teams. I feel for Hinson but Martin has changed that program around in just a couple of years. Isn't that what we were promised? Don't turn this into a lynching post, just saying it can be done in a short period of time but we are nowhere close to those two.

Add a healthy Sam Maniscalco and Taylor Brown to our current team and I think we are VERY close to these 2 teams.

Take away the best 2 players from WSU and MSU and they would be in the bottom half of the Valley.

We will never know the answer to that but I don't think so. Both teams are much deeper then us.I do think we would be a distant 3rd in the league possibily? MSU just won the Valley . Great story Martin and cancer survivor.

Neither of those teams today would be 10th if you took their 2 best players away. Bottom half? Maybe. Probably around Evansville. But not 10th.

But congrats to the Bears. Great season, and great win on national TV. Quite a scene there at the JHQ Arena!

That's been my only issue with this season. I think we are better than a 10th place team even with the injuries, but in the end, how would us finishing say 7th change the complexion of this season? Probably not much in that we would still be playing on Thursday night, which as you said, possibly so would WSU and MSU had they lost their two best all-conference players.

That said though, we really are only three possessions away from being a 7th place team. Two one point losses to ISU red and a 3 point loss at EU kept us from a 6-11 record with a 7th place "showdown" coming up tonight against Drake. So I don't think this team is that far from finishing in the upper half of the league as some think.

Can't really disagree with you, but we are what we are for a reason. I can make a strong case that maybe we're only 6-7 possessions away from having 16-17 wins instead of 10 even with the injuries. EIU, @ WCU, both ISU red games, and SIU at home all were easily winnable. That gets us to 15-14, but still only 6-11 which would have us playing tonight for 7th. Heck of a lot better than 10th though.

The problem is that every year it seems like we're having this conversation.

There are close games all the time. UNI is one possession from 14-3 and CU is one posession from 13-4....I'm not on any bandwagon regarding JL. I see both sides of it but there are games we should have won this year with the players who were on the floor.

Agreed. What's done is done. Let's win tonight and make someone sweat next weekend.

Only way we make anyone sweat is if we win 2 games next weekend including Wichita State, and if that happens they might as well get ready for the NIT

The Shockers will be sweating if they're tied with us with 5 minutes to play on Friday.

I have to agree though that every team in Division I loses some close games that they should have won. And conversely most teams win a few games they should have lost. BU beating Tennessee-Martin is one of those games that while on paper we should have won, the way we played that day we almost could have easily lost it. But in the end we got the job done.

Anyway I'm splitting hairs here, I know. But as tough as these loses are to swallow, I'd much rather lose close games than end up getting blown out in them. Had we lost those three games (and others) that I mentioned above by 20 points, I would have been a lot more concerned going into next season.
