  • NCAA Investigating Coastal Carolina

FWIW-- I haven't seen this posted anywhere.. I ran across this article last night about the NCAA investigation of Coastal Carolina. Good read for those interested.

    Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

OMG -- yes, Coastal Carolina has gotten way too good way too fast....they should be thoroughly investigated as they most certainly are gaining unfair advantage somehow.....( )....and the going rumor is that some of the recruits and transfers got some free food at the Conway, SC McDonald's to sway them (not that anyone would need inducements to play at such a fine place and school with strong tradition as the Chanticleers)

surely this is a lesson for all good Bradley fans, that there are GOOD coaching candidates out there just waiting for a phone call who will turn the program around immediately and have success.....
In fact, Cliff Ellis just might be available for next year......

Sounds similar to the Versace case in that Anthony Webster was not happy and turned BU in for buying him meals and supposedly promising his dad a job at Wabco among other things, unlike Tenn and Conn. Coastal Carolina can expect the NCAA to throw the book at them, well because they are just Coastal Carolina a small fish in a big pond and they cannot cheat the bcs schools out of their money.

Look for the NCAA to come down with the hammer. They are going to be a 13 seed or so and be a legit threat to a protected seed in the tournament, and you gotta protect your big boys, right, NCAA?

note-- I have added the smileys so nobody thinks I was actually serious -- Coastal Carolina was only doing what they needed to do to survive -- Conway, SC is probably not the greatest place to recruit to although they do have beaches 20 miles away....but then so does a large part of SC, NC, VA, GA, and all the states they recruit from...
they have also suspended all the kids they have found to be ineligible or who had improper backgrounds..

You are right tornado. Cliff Ellis' biggest sin was winning and winning quickly. And being somewhat anti-establishment. People don't like that. Now, I am NOT saying Cliff is 100% squeaky clean here. He probably isn't. But people don't like it when the new kid comes in and starts winning, and doing it in a different way.

They MUST be cheating then right?

using the logic they use whenever they investigate Bradley -- yes....so they'll dig 'til they find something -- even some inadvertent pay error that takes weeks to dig out of the records..

Not that any of it matters but Cliff Ellis is really a cool guy.

I'm sure he is. And not that it really matters, but I met Dave Bliss back in 1997 and thought he was a really nice guy.
